Gicris Wins Race and Championship at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park

GROVETON, N.H. 9/26/2020- Neon Nic Gilcris picked up another feature event victory and another Scottie Fraziers 2ToGo Show Tiger championship Saturday night at Riverside. Gilcris wrestled the lead away from second place point man Rowdy Brad Bushey and never looked back en route to another win. Bushey came in second for the night and for the season and Tom Merchant finished in third place for the night.

The White Mountains Community College 6& 8 bone stocks saw Groveton’s Mike Sherburne get the win and the championship. Floyd Bennett JR. made his first start in the bone stocks driving the former Jamie Swallow SR. machine and came home with a fine second-place finish. Jason Ball brought his #85 in for third.

In the EKeys 4 Cars Formula Fours Chris Caron continued his winning season with another win and the title . On lap eight Dan Stinson SR. tangled with the 85 of Jason Ball with Ball spinning toward the infield in turn one. This kicked up some dust and as the 85 slid back on to the track, Dan Stinson JR., making his first start in the formula fours, tangled with Jason Ball’s #85, and then the 28 of Jared Blakely hit both cars in a very scary crash. Jason Ball walked to the Speedway Safety Services vehicle and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

When racing resumed the battle was on between Dan Stinson SR. and Jacob Roy as they were within a couple of points of each other. Roy’s night ended on the wrecker as he broke a right rear wheel and his night was done. Caron picked up the win with Dan Stinson in second and Zack Audet finishing in third.

The Lil Rascals dwarf cars had a four-car melee on lap four as the #8 of Brad Sanborn got up over the left front of young Paxton Call with Brenna Humphrey’s #21 and Richard Humphrey’s #3 involved as well. Point leader Roger Edgecomb ended up over the bank in turn 2 to avoid the crash. When the race was over Richie Turner picked up another win with Champion Roger Edgecomb finishing second in the 1x and Brad Sanborn came back for the third spot.

The 4 cylinder bone stocks were 16 strong Saturday night. Point leader Ryan Heuser had the title locked up at the start of the night and he asked track owner Mike Humphrey if he could start on the pole one lap down and see if he could win from a lap down. After asking the other drivers what they thought everyone was on board. Heuser started on the pole one lap down and he sliced and diced his way through the field and at the end of 30 laps, Heuser found himself finishing in the third spot.

Derby Vermont’s Marty Barrup picked up his second win of the season and Shawn Hood ended up second in his #76. The Claudette and Deans Place Daredevils put on a great show. Young Danny Stinson JR. got the lead early in his #53 and didn’t look back picking up his first main event win this season. Windsor Hodgdon brought his #23 in for second with Revin Evan Gilbert taking home a hard-earned third. Lyndonville, Vermont’s Cassi Leonard ended the night in fifth but brought home her first Claudette and Dean’s Place point championship.

Congratulations to all the 2020 champions at Riverside Speedway. This coming week will see a benefit corn hole tournament for Phil Caron of Groveton. Bags fly at 12 noon with a live band in the beer garden to follow.
