White Mountain Stars Motor South to Take on Hickory Motor Speedway
N. Woodstock, NH — With the Granite State just receiving a new foot of fresh snow, several White Mountain Motorsports Park teams are loading up and heading south to join the American-Canadian Tour exhibition races at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway on March 17th and 18th. These twin-125 lap events are sure to be an exciting start for these Foley Oil & Propane regulars who are ready to kick-start 2023 on new turf.
2022 and 9-time White Mountain Motorsports Park ‘King of the Mountain’ Quinny Welch leads the way, but is sporting some new digs on the American-Canadian Tour circuit. Welch will be behind the wheel of the Sullivan Construction #0NH Chevy Camaro for Hickory and is currently listed as the pilot of that machine for the full 2023 season. The exciting change of pace for the Groveton, New Hampshire driver will still see him as a weekly fighter at White Mountain in defense of his most recent track title.
Another former ‘King of the Mountain’ and 2022 Milton CAT Midsummer 250 winner from Center Conway, D.J. Shaw is also making the trip south as the reigning American-Canadian Tour champion. Aside from the older folks, a group of wave-making youngsters are also ready to test out the rough and tumble Hickory surface.
Leading the youth movement pack is North Dartmouth, Massachusetts’ own Derek Gluchacki, the only one of the bunch with prior experience at Hickory. After pulling off the hat-trick of winning all three Wall’s Ford Platinum Late Model Series events in 2023, Gluchacki is searching for Hickory victory lane after a strong 9th-place and disappointing 24th-place finish at the twin-125 ACT debut just two years ago.
2022 White Mountain Rookie of the Year Bryan Wall Jr. is stepping up to the big leagues in 2023, ready to go two-for-two on top rookie status, and is ready to start it all at Hickory. Defending Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tiger champion Tanner Woodard is also stepping up to the ACT ranks as he too looks to start his rookie season off with a big win in North Carolina. Longtime White Mountain racers Christian Laflamme and Kasey Beattie are also set to join the fray. The former four-cylinder and Flying Tiger standouts have also made waves as Late Model campaigners, both ready for their first trip to Hickory Motor Speedway.
The American-Canadian Tour is set to start the 2023 season off with a pair of non-point 125-lap events at the famed ‘Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars,’ Hickory Motor Speedway. Some of the top White Mountain Motorsports Park teams are ready to tackle the St. Patrick’s Day 125 on Friday, March 17th and the Easter Bunny 125 on Saturday, March 18th with the American-Canadian Tour alongside twin features for the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models and the Mighty Mini Stock Series!
