Weedsport’s Clone Invitational to Implement Dry Tire Impound During Octoberfest

WEEDSPORT, NY (September 27, 2023) – The fifth running of Weedsport Kartway’s Clone Invitational on Saturday, October 14 will require a dry tire impound for all racers in action.

The $500-to-win event, which is open to select competitors across the region in the Clone 360 division, continues as a special one-off race pitting the best racers in the area against one another on the first day of Octoberfest Weekend. This year drivers will have to follow a new tire rule in place only for the Invitational.

“After several discussions with teams, drivers, and others in the industry, we felt the Clone Invitational would be a good way to test the waters for potential options in regards to tire rules at Weedsport,” said Weedsport Kartway’s Dan Kapuscinski. “While there are many theories out there as to how to improve our overall product, we felt this option was one we could gauge during Octoberfest Weekend. We look forward to feedback and input from some of our best racers during Octoberfest.”

The dry tire impound will require all Clone Invitational entrants to enter Weedsport’s staging building with dry Burris 33 tires for time trials. As soon as each entrant clears the scales their tires will be removed, tagged, and stored in the Weedsport tech building until they return for racing later in the afternoon.

When instructed, tires will be released to teams with air pressure adjustments being all that is allowed prior to race time. No cleaning of tires will be permitted.

More than 40 drivers are eligible to enter the Clone Invitational from area tracks such as Ransomville, Oswego, Weedsport, Moose Mountain, and Can-Am. Potential entrants include previous Invitational champions Jeremy Tuttle, Dan Marsden, Nick McGill, and Jared John.
