Racing Against Cancer™ Track Walk Date Announced for Stafford Speedway June 19, 2011

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Springs, CT (February 18, 2011) – Stafford Motor Speedway in conjunction with Racing Against Cancer™ are pleased to announce a 2011 date to host a Prelude to the CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions For Charities: The Racing Against Cancer™ Track Walk at Stafford Speedway. The Sunday June 19, 2011 event will help lead the anticipation of the Champions For Charities event at CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday on June 28, 2011.

“The CARQUEST Champions For Charities event was not only designed to help worthy causes but to challenge the drivers, teams, and their charities of choice to get involved and raise funds for their causes while having fun at the same time,” said Stafford Motor Speedway Executive Vice President Lisa Arute. “Stafford Speedway is thrilled to be hosting one of the first Racing Against Cancer Track Walks.”

All funds raised at the CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions For Charities Track Walk to benefit Racing Against Cancer will be credited to RAC Champions For Charities driver and 7-time ISMA Champion Russ Wood. The starting lineups for the CARQUEST Champions For Charities qualifying races will be determined by how much money each driver raises for their selected charity. The starting grid will be set with the drivers who have raised the most money starting up front. Fans are encouraged to get involved in the event by donating to their favorite driver or favorite charity.

Scott Gregory, co-founder of the RAC Team, stated, “This is one of the first Track Walk events for the new RAC program; RAC is thrilled to have it take place in Connecticut, the state that has been home to RAC for the past 16 years.”

Racing Against Cancer™ was founded in 1996; the original goal was the raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. Through the efforts of many generous and talented racing teams and organizations, the Racing Against Cancer™ program has generated in excess of $660,000 for the fight against cancer since the team’s inception. In 2010 the RAC Team expanded its list of benefactors to twelve, including David’s House of New Hampshire, Victory Junction Gang Camp, Ronald McDonald’s Houses of Providence and Charlotte, St. Judes, and other patient care services.

“RAC and Stafford Speedway hope that the fans, other teams, and local community will come together for a fun motorsports based activity to support a great cause. It really is a great way to bond and enjoy an afternoon with your fellow competitors or meet and talk with your favorite driver while on the racetrack surface,” said Gregory.

CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also feature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds. Tickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box Office and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
