Bobby Timmons Captures Bob Webber Sr. Memorial Win; Travis Benjamin Tops Granite State Pro Stock Series Hedges Excavating 100

(May 6, 2023) — Star Speedway continued their 2023 season on Saturday afternoon with both the Granite State Pro Stock Series on hand for the Hedges Excavation 100, and the Bob Webber Sr. Memorial 47 for the 350 Supermodifieds. Also on the afternoon schedule were the K-COB Slingshots, 2 To Go Show Six Shooters presented by Top Gun Roofing

The 350 Supermodifieds had the first of their marquee events of the 2023 Star Speedway season Saturday and it was Bobby Timmons III who topped the competition in the 47-lap main event. Timmons was last years championship runner-up and has his 2023 campaign off to a strong start with two podium finishes in the opening two races. Opening day winner and last year’s track champion Jeffrey Battle crossed the line in the second position. Chase Locke finished the 47-lap main event in third, as the young driver added another 350 Supermodified podium to his career resume.

Travis Benjamin topped all comers in the Hedges Excavation 100 for the Granite State Pro Stock Series on Saturday night, the opening race of their 2023 season. Benjamin, a long-time Pro Stock, and former Busch North competitor, paced his nearest competition by 1.595 seconds at races end. Evan Beaulieu started his 2023 season off strong with a second-place finish. He had shown speed in several Star Speedway appearances with the series and drove his way to a podium on Saturday. Third place went to Jeremy Sorel when checkers flew, Sorel finished the race 2.707 seconds behind Benjamin.

The K-COB Slingshots took to the track for their third race on Saturday and it was Joey Fraser taking home his first win in the class. The former Six Shooter champion was close to Slingshot victory lane throughout his rookie campaign in 2022 and was able to seal the deal on Saturday. Another former Six Shooter standout, making her move to the Slingshots in 2023, Jenna Beaulieu, crossed the line next with a career-best second-place finish. Finishing in third was Nate Nate LeClair, who has been the model of consistency in his early slingshot career, three races, three third-place finishes for the 2022 2 To Go Show Six Shooter presented by Top Gun Rooofing champion.

Speaking of the Six Shooters, they were back in action on Saturday, and the competition continues to be hot as the division had its third different winner of the early season. Jeremy Hayes continued to build on a strong multiple-win rookie season in the division last season as he claimed his first win of 2023 in the division’s third race of the year. Both Adam Knowles and Billy Eastman have visited victory lane as well in the Six Shooters so far in 2023.

Star Speedway is back on track this Friday, May 12 for a special Friday night event under the lights. The Izzett Construction Late Models will make their season debut with multiple other divisions. For more information on Star Speedway, visit us online at StarSpeedwayNH.com.
