Event Preview: Star Speedway Set For First Friday Night Show This Friday, May 12

(May 10, 2023) — For the first time in 2023, Star Speedway will be in action on a Friday night with five divisions of weekly racing this Friday, May 12. The first green flag is scheduled to fly at 6:30 p.m. Highlighting Friday night’s schedule will be the first 2023 appearance of the Izzett Construction Late Models, along with racing for the Woody’s Street Stocks, K Cob Slingshots, 2 To Go Show Six Shooters presented by Top Gun Roofing and the MLM Diagnostic Pure Stocks.

The Late Model division has been growing in numbers, and the racing has been hotly contested over the last few seasons. Defending champion and multiple-time 2022 winner Charlie Rose is expected to return and defend his title in 2023. The Curtis brothers, Jarret and Chase, both had breakout seasons last year, and will be looking to improve on their 2022 results. Former Pure Stock and Slingshot winner Jimmy Connor finished out his 2022 rookie campaign strong and will likely be contending for wins throughout his sophomore campaign. Veterans Connor McDougal and George Maroon are returning, both found victory lane last season and are expected to be championship contenders in 2023 as well.

Joe Ventrillo has been the man to beat so far this season in Woody’s Street Stock action, taking both wins in the division’s two races so far this year. The division will be back on the Epping oval for race three of their 2023 campaign on Friday night, as a host of drivers will be looking to knock off Ventrillo and notch their first win in the division this season.

The story of the K Cob Slingshots this season would have to be the performance of the division’s young up-and-coming drivers. Although veteran Dave Cameron won the division’s first two races, Joey Fraser broke through taking his first career win in the division last Saturday. Both Nate LeClair, and Jenna Beaulieu made the jump up from Six Shooter racing last season. LeClair has three podiums in three races, and Beaulieu is coming off a career-best second place last Saturday night.

The Six Shooter division has seen three different winners in three races to start their 2023 season. Billy Eastman, Adam Knowles, and most recently Jeremy Hayes have already visited Star victory lane this season. The trio will all be looking to be the division’s first repeat winner when they hit the track next in Friday night racing.

The Pure Stocks will also be back in action on Friday. Last Saturday night, Gage Osborne grabbed his first Pure Stock win of the 2023 season. Defending champion George Riley Jr. has rolled his consistent finishes over into the new season grabbing three podiums in this first three starts this year.

Friday night racing on May 12 begins at 6:30 p.m. All tickets will be available at the track on race day. For full schedule of events and more visit us online at StarSpeedwayNH.com.
