Seven Twin-Race Events Set for Late Models on 2025 South Boston Speedway Schedule
Twin-Race Events and Lap Counts Announced for all Four SBS 2025 Weekly Divisions
SOUTH BOSTON, VA…..Twin race events bring a double dose of excitement and some of the most thrilling racing for fans. South Boston Speedway has seven twin-race events scheduled for its Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division competitors for the 2025 season.
The Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will kick off their 2025 season at South Boston Speedway on Saturday afternoon, March 22 with twin 50-lap races, each paying $2,500 to the winner. Twin race events are also scheduled for May 10, May 24, June 7, July 26, August 9, and August 23. Each of those dates will feature twin-75-lap races.
A total of 18 races are slated for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division in 2025.
“I have always loved twin-race events, and we will have plenty of them this season,” remarked South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “The level of excitement among fans and competitors and the intensity of the racing seems to elevate an extra notch on twin-race events. The competitors in each of our four divisions will have at least one twin-race event during the season, giving them an opportunity to potentially earn two checkered flags and two trophies in one day.”
Track officials have scheduled 100-lap races for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division on April 12 and April 26. The Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division race on Championship Night, September 6, will go for 100 laps.
The track’s Limited Sportsman Division competitors will have three twin-race events with twin 30-lap races. Those twin-race events are set for April 26, May 24, and June 7.
The Limited Sportsman Division competitors will open their 2025 season at South Boston Speedway on Saturday afternoon, April 12 with the Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature.
Two twin-race events are scheduled for the Pure Stock Division with twin 15-lap races slated for April 12 and July 26.
For the first time since the division was created the Hornets Division competitors will have two twin-race events, an increase from one in 2024. Twin-race events are scheduled for June 7 and August 9 with twin 15-lap races set for both events.
In addition to announcing its twin-race events for the 2025 season, South Boston Speedway officials have set dates for two regional touring divisions that have made regular appearances at the .4-mile oval over the years.
The regional touring East Coast Flathead Fords Racing Association will make its annual stop at South Boston Speedway on Saturday afternoon April 26. The Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will visit the track twice, first on May 10 and again on August 23.
South Boston Speedway will launch its 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, March 22 with the first of the tracks three special events, the SMART Modified Tour’s King of the Modifieds event.
That event will feature powerful 600-horsepower open-wheel tour-type Modifieds in a 125-lap. South Boston Speedway’s Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division will be featured in twin-50-lap races, each paying $2,500 to win. Other series or divisions will be announced later.
South Boston Speedway’s showcase Late Model Stock Car Division event, the $10,000-to-win Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 on Saturday night, June 28, the opening race of the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown, will be the longest race of the season for track’s Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division.
That event will include a 40-lap Limited Sportsman Division race, a 20-lap Pure Stock Division race and a 15-lap Hornets Division race. A dazzling Fourth of July fireworks display will follow the conclusion of the last race of the night.
South Boston Speedway will close out its 2025 season on Saturday night, September 13 with the track’s annual ZMax CARS Tour event. That event will feature a 125-lap race for the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Tour and a 100-lap race for the CARS Tour Pro Late Model Tour. Other divisions or series will be announced later.
