July Packed with Exciting Racing Action at Thompson

Thompson, CT — July is one action packed month at the Thompson International Speedway. The racing action continues with the biggest event of the season for the Sunoco Modifieds, a 100-lap National Championship event for the Pro All Star Series (PASS), a 40-lap shootout for the Tour-Type Modifieds and the return of the Mini Stock northern challenge race.

The big event for the Sunoco Modifieds will be held this Thursday, July 14th which is Whelen Engineering night. Whelen Engineering, the title sponsor of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, will sponsor the night that will also feature Thompson’s Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, Late Models, XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman and the Monster Mini Stocks.

Sunoco Modified competitors are looking forward to their big night when one race team will rake in the extra purse money and will carry the special rewards of winning the biggest race of the season for the track’s premier division. Keith Rocco, Ryan Preece, Woody Pitkat, Todd Ceravolo and more will certainly bring their “A Game” to the speedway this Thursday in hopes of winning the big one.

One week later on July 21st, the Pro All Star Series will make their annual trek to Thompson for a 100-Lap National Championship main event. PASS competitors from both the northern and southern divisions are expected to be on hand for this very important race for this popular touring series. Ben and Mike Rowe, Johnny Clark, Derek Ramstrom, Travis Benjamin and many more will represent the northern contingent of the PASS Super Late Model division. Current National PASS Super Late Model points leader, Jay Fogleman of Durham, NC is expected to lead the southern tour.

The PASS Series will be joined by the Tour-Type Modifieds in their second appearance of the year at Thompson. Todd Szegedy claimed the victory when these cars raced back on June2nd. An impressive field of Tour-Type Modified drivers made up that field and all are expected to return for round two in their three race series at Thompson. Other drivers seeking to claim a win in this special three-race package are Ted Christopher, Ryan Preece, Mike Stefanik, Steven Reed and other popular Modified racers. The night will also include five of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.

One year ago Thompson Speedway played host to the first Mini Stock 20-lap Northern Challenge. This event brought out an excellent representation of Thompson’s Monster Mini Stock competitors as well as a strong group of northern New England Mini Stock racers. Each group ran its own feature event and then the best of both groups were combined for a 20-lap shootout. That event was won by Chris McKinstry of East Thetford, VT.

Race fans have a great opportunity to see lots of unique racing this month at Thompson. Each event is built on highly competitive racing action and lots of excitement. Full details on each of these events may be found on the Thompson Web site. www.thompsonspeedway.com
