SCoNE Points Battle Too Close to Call at Canaan Dirt Speedway This Friday Night
Canaan, NH — When the methanol breathing mudslinging winged warriors of the Sprint Cars of New England pull into the pits at Canaan Dirt Speedway in Canaan, NH this Friday night August 19, they’ll be carrying with them a points battle that’s too close to call. With just three points races left – excluding the Labor Day Weekend Triple Crown Series that has its own points fund- nine SCoNE drivers have a statistical possibility of claiming the 2011 points crown.
With four wins to his credit, defending Champion Chris Donnelly of Piermont, NH has a slim, 28 point lead over Dan Douville of Bridgewater, NH, who won the season opener at Canaan Dirt Speedway back in May. “The Fairlee Flier,” Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, VT currently rides third in points, with a third place finish at Bear Ridge Speedway over Independence Day weekend as his best effort so far.
When the 360 cubic inch, open cockpit SCoNE Sprint Cars last stormed into Canaan Dirt Speedway on July 15, Jim Lowrey of Tilton, NH had the crowd on its feet and screaming for more with his last lap, last turn pass to steal a win from Shawn Lawler of Mason, NH. Lawler, a former SCoNE Champion is still in the chase for the 2011 championship, as is former Champion Tunk Berry. Rookies Tyler Rich and Will Hull can’t be counted out either.
The pits open at 4:00 pm this Friday at Canaan Dirt Speedway and post time is 7:00 pm for Bond Auto Parts, Make-a-Wish Night featuring the Sprint Cars of New England and the Granite State Mini Sprints along with a special $300 to win Non-winners Modified race, Super Streets, Bandits and Dirt Devils.
