Qualifying: Beers Wins Pole Again
Mansfield, OH — Eric Beers won his second straight Coors Light Pole Award, posting the fastest lap at the .5-mile Mansfield Motorsports Park oval.
It is the eighth career pole for Beers (No. 46 Reynold’s Auto Wrecking/Sunoco Chevrolet), who put up a lap of 15.319 seconds/117.501 mph. Beers was also fastest in practice. He edged Bobby Grigas III (No. 09 Triple-G Scaffold Services Chevrolet) by two thousands of a second. Grigas had a top lap of 15.321/118.486.
Ryan Preece (No. 3 Mizzy Construction/Reynold’s Auto Wrecking Chevrolet) was third at 15.354/117.233, followed by Billy Pauch and Matt Hirschman.
Following the post-qualifying redraw of the top six qualifiers, Ted Christopher will start on the pole and Beers will start on the outside of the front row. Christopher was sixth fastest in qualifying. He enters the race 41 points behind first-place Chuck Hossfeld. Hossfeld qualified 13th.
The Whelen 150 is schedule to go green at 8 p.m., following the NASCAR Camping World Series race.
