Speedbowl Ready to Host Belltown Tire Service Center Little Guys 200 Friday
Inaugural event highlights weekend schedule
Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl changes up its schedule this weekend to host the Belltown Tire Service Center Little Guys 200 on Friday, July 12. The popular shoreline oval takes a summer break from its usual doubleheader of Friday night HDRA drag racing and Saturday night NASCAR racing. In place, a four division event highlighting some of the track’s popular support divisions takes center stage as the only event of the weekend.
Speedbowl management assembled the Little Guys 200 concept to put divisions often overshadowed into the spotlight for fans and racers alike. The event will combine the Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions with the Legend Cars and X-Cars. Each routinely stage memorable races at the three-eighths mile Speedbowl. All four races Friday will feature extra-distance racing and extra prize money for the winner rarely put up by short track promoters. Sponsorship from Belltown Tire Service Center of East Hampton offers extra incentive to racers and fans alike.
The Street Stock and Mini EG-2013-07-12Stocks will each compete in 50-lap races offering a $1,000.00 winner’s share in an open competition format. The relaxed rules are geared to bring in more competitors from around the region as well as allow racers to step outside the box of track rules to show off their mechanical and engineering savvy. Fans will be treated to some different racecars with familiar names behind the wheel of them on Friday.
The INEX Legend Cars will compete for 50-laps in a $500.00 to win race and the popular Speedbowl X-car division from its Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday series will also race for 50-laps with $500.00 on the line. Those divisions will race under their standard rules package. Bragging rights are huge for all four of Friday’s events.
Belltown Tire Service Center will sponsor a Pit Crew Challenge Friday offering a $500.00 cash prize to the quickest team of five crew members. The challenge will take place on the front chute between the X-Car and Mini Stock features. One team from each division competing will have the chance to participate against Belltown Tire Service Center’s pit crew to show how quickly they can complete the required pit stop.
Fans won’t be left out of the fun either as another $500.00 prize towards the purchase of a new set of street tires will be given out to a fan in attendance by visiting the Belltown Tire Service Center booth on the midway.
Spectator gates open at 5:00pm Friday with qualifying heat races beginning at 6:00pm. The first of four main events is scheduled for 7:00pm. Belltown Tire Service Center is a full service auto center located in East Hampton (CT). Their newly expanded tire and service center reaches over 15,000 square feet offering more than 300 makes and sizes of tires. Speedbowl fans can bring in their ticket stubs all summer long to receive a 5% discount on tires along with free mounting and balancing.
