Thompson’s World Series Underway
Thompson, CT — The World Series of Speedway Racing got underway on Friday night with qualifying for seven of the 14 divisions in competition during the three-day racing spectacular. Tim Taylor of Wauregan, CT and Rick Blanchard of Pascoag, RI shared qualifying race honors in Thompson’s own Mini Stocks. Eric Grant of New Milford, CT, and Jesse Gleason of Lisbon were heat race winners in the Limited Sportsman division. Cam McDermott of Scituate, RI was tops in TIS Modified qualifying.
In the Outlaw Mini Stocks Phil Evans of Uncasville, CT, a Waterford regular and Seekonk Speedway competitor Derek Bergquist of Warwick, RI won heat races. Outlaw Strictly Stocks heats went to Ryan Lineham of Coventry, RI, and Tim Sullivan of S. Windsor. Corey Hutchings of Salem, CT, and Rick Gentes of Woonsocket, RI were tops in Outlaw Late Model qualifying. The Pro 4’s Modifieds and All Star Trucks also had heat races.
The action continues on Saturday with practice from 8:30AM – 2:00 PM for the Thompson Modifieds, Late Models, Sunoco Modifieds, Pro Stocks, All Star Trucks and Pro-Four Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, ISMA Supermodifieds, and the Whelen Modified Tour. Time Trials for the Modified Tour are slated for 2:30 PM. Qualifying will continue with heat races for the ISMA Supers, NEMA Midgets, Sunoco Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Late Models. A full slate of eight (8) feature events will be held as well for the divisions that qualified on Friday Night.
Before a full-day of feature racing on Sunday, October 19th, the Thompson Clubhouse will be open from 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM for a $6.95 All-You-Can-Eat breakfast buffet. Pit Gate opens at 8:00 AM and Grandstands open at 9:00 PM. The Pro Stock feature is slated to go off first after the Supermodifieds fire engines followed by the Late Models, Sunoco Modifieds, and NEMA Midgets. The ISMA Supermodifieds and the Whelen Modified Tour cap off an incredible weekend of racing. The Tour is schedule to go off at approximately 3:00.
