Derek Robbie New Pro4 Modifieds of New England Limited Division Champion
Bellingham, MA — New England Pro4 Modified driver Derek Robbie won his last race of the season in the 27L at Thompson Speedway on Saturday, October 19th, putting him in the winner’s circle and crowning him the new limited division champion.
Robbie fought hard to reach his goal of winning his first championship. He began the season with a broken throttle and transmission trouble in the season opener. Similar problems plagued the second race. Robbie’s never-give-up spirit helped his team turn their luck around with a win at Waterford Speedway and a bonus, just for fun win at Seekonk Speedway the same weekend. Then just as Robbie was gaining speed, winning races at Stafford, Waterford and Monadnock, taking the points lead with a win at Monadnock on August 10, it looked as if another stroke of bad luck in the form of a blown engine at Canaan may force him to park the car for the rest of the season, with just two races left on the schedule. The many friends and supporters Robbie has gained couldn’t let that happen. Two of them, fellow Pro4 Mod racer Mark Giordano and engine builder Les Rose lent their support in the form a rapidly built engine so Robbie could finish out the season. Giordano lent Robbie’s team spare engine parts and Rose put them all together to build an engine for the #27L in less than three days.
“It’s racers helping racers and I’m so glad to be a part of that,” said Robbie. “I would not be where I am today without the support of everyone behind me. It means so much to me that people believe in what I do and want me succeed. I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all their support this season and for seasons to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of my fans, my family, and my sponsors, RAD, Thredz Unlimited, Baddass Inc., Marshall’s Jewelers, Shibles Family Mattress, Red Rock Grill, Ugly Duck Communications, Amsoil, and Rod End Supply for sticking with me and encouraging me.”
