American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels for Northeast Dirt Modified and Sportsman Teams to Grow For 2014

Tremendous Amount of Bonuses Added To Existing Program

BINGHAMTON, NY — The $150,000 American Racer Cup will get even bigger for the upcoming 2014 racing season for northeast Modified and Sportsman drivers. A number of substantial bonuses along with newly compiled American Racer Cup “State Championships” will make this the biggest program for northeast teams. The American Racer Cup will be presented by Sunoco Race Fuels in 2014.

Fred Woodward and Matt Brandle from Lias Tire along with Race of Champions and Five Mile Point Speedway track owner Andrew Harpell have put together changes in the program for 2014. The additions and changes will certainly further enhance the opportunities for the northeast dirt Modified and Sportsman teams that participate in the highly successful program.

Harpell commented, “This program is so strong that teams will be looking for American Racer Cup facilities to compete at in 2014.” “Teams never have to leave their weekly American Racer Cup Track to compete for the overall title and this year we have added State Titles to make it even more lucrative for both our Modified and Sportsman teams.” He added, “This program has always been about the race teams and this year will certainly emphasize that.”

For 2014, Sunoco Race Fuels will present the Home State Championships in addition to all of the programs that have existed in the past. In addition to the weekly track benefits and overall championship now, a state ranking will award bonuses to the teams in the program. Each facility within a state that is part of the program will see their drivers ranked for a state title. This will apply to both the Modified and Sportsman programs.

The American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels Modified Overall Point Fund is going to increase a whopping $12,550 from this past season. The overall title will again pay $10,000 but the payback will now go to tenth place in the overall standings as listed (1. $10,000, 2. $6,000. 3. $5,000. 4. $3,500 5. $3,000. 6. $2,500. 7. $2,000. 8. $1,500. 9. $1,000. 10. $1,000.

The American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman Overall Point Fund is going to increase an impressive $5,600 from this past season. The overall title will now pay the top ten drivers in the final standings. The existing track incentive programs will remain intact for the Sportsman teams as well. The Sportsman teams will also have the added State Title programs in effect.

Once again, hundreds of free track tire giveaways will be awarded among the participating tracks in the American Racer Cup in 2014. There will also be a mid-season tire giveaway to the program point leaders at each track after the weekend of August 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The “Dog Days of Summer Bonus” will be just another added incentive this season.

The year if the American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels Modified Overall Champion can go on to win the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour they will earn a $10,000 bonus. In the past, that bonus was posted at $20,000 but it was never claimed. This year all the extra cash has been put in to the program to ensure teams will receive that money and the $10,000 bonus will be a plus for a team that has the dream season. The American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman Overall Champion would earn a $1,500 bonus if they could win the Race of Champions Sportsman overall title as well.

On October 10th and 11th Five Mile Point Speedway will host the ultimate short track drivers weekend with “The Cup Championship Weekend”. The weekend will serve strictly as a bonus for northeast teams. The American Racer Cup officially ends on Labor Day Weekend and those points will be final. “The Cup Championship Weekend” will see the American Racer Cup Sportsman Champions Dash on Friday, October 10th. All of the track Sportsman Champions will go head to head in a 15 lap Champions Dash that will pay $1,000 to win and provide a free tire to any team that takes the green in the event. That night will also see the Sportsman running in a complete program of heats and a feature paying $2,000 to win. The regular racing program is open to any legal northeast Sportsman team. If a track champion cannot participate in the Champions Dash driver representatives will be added based on final track points.

On Saturday, October 11th, the Modified teams will also have a Champions Dash that will pay $2,000 to the winner of the 15-lap dash. The teams that take the green in the Champions Dash will earn a free tire. That day will see the “Modified Cup 50” paying a minimum of $5,500 to win and an impressive $500 to take the green.

Lias Tire will also be on hand for “The Cup Championship Weekend” to personally award all of the season long bonus tire awards to the teams that participate in the program. Teams are not required to be on hand to receive their tire bonuses. This is only an opportunity for teams to cash in their certificates in person while not having to wait to the following race season to redeem them with their track vendor.

Fred Woodward from Lias Tire commented on that weekend program, “We wanted to have some face to face time with the teams that participate in this program and we couldn’t think of a better way than to support this big two day event for our teams.” “We want to make the certificate redemption process for the teams seamless and this will certainly accomplish that.” He added, “Entering our fifth year of the American Racer Cup I can say that we have never been more excited about the program.” “It will serve as a tremendous boost to our partner racing facilities.”
