Rides Again, the 10-year reunion commemoration of the legendary track’s closing!
Salisbury, MA — Organizers of SpeedwayEXPO 2009 are asking for vintage photographs of Riverside Park Speedway to help celebrate the 10-year reunion of the popular track. Photos will be posted on Speedwayexpo.com and each submitter will be entered in a drawing to win four tickets to SpeedwayEXPO.
After 50 years of competition, the final race at the popular Riverside Park Speedway in Agawam, Massachusetts, took place in 1999. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the closing of the park, Riverside Rides Again, the Riverside Park Speedway Reunion sponsored by Budweiser, will take place at SpeedwayEXPO 2009, February 27-March 1. Riverside Rides Again will feature fascinating displays dedicated to the proud history of Riverside, complete with race cars from every era, photos, videos, memorabilia and many of the people who raced there. There will be a host of Riverside events throughout EXPO, including autograph sessions.
Photos for the Web site and the drawing should be emailed to Dick Berggren at editorial@speedwayillustrated.com. Most photo services such as CVS Photo Centers (http://cvs.pnimedia.com/home.aspx) can inexpensively convert prints to digital files. (Jpeg or tiff formats are acceptable.) Along with the photo file, include your name, address, a daytime phone number, and a brief description of what and who are in the photo.
