Call Before You Dig 811 Challenge Returns to Stafford Speedway; Distributing $4,055 Contingency Bonus in 2015

Stafford Springs, CT — For the third consecutive season, Call Before You Dig will partner with Stafford Motor Speedway to offer one of the most unique contingency awards in all of short track racing.  The CBYD 811 Challenge will award a total of $4,055 that will be split evenly among five drivers this season.  The CBYD 811 Challenge is open to drivers from each of Stafford’s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions and a special points system is used to determine the five drivers who will each receive an $811 bonus.

Drivers earn 100 points for a victory, and each subsequent position below first place is worth 5 points less.  The CBYD 811 Challenge begins at the 44th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler on April 24-26 and culminates on August 7 with the Call Before You Dig 150.  The five drivers who come the closest to accumulating 811 points without going over in that time period will each take home an $811 bonus from CBYD.  Last year’s CBYD 811 Challenge winners were Ryan Preece from the SK Modified® division, David Arute and Austin Bessette from the Limited Late Model division, and David Comeau and Brandon Michael from the DARE Stock division.  The 2013 CBYD 811 Challenge winners were Eric Berndt, Justin Bren, Ted Christopher, Todd Owen, and Cliff Saunders, making 10 different winners in the first two seasons of the CBYD 811 Challenge.

“Call Before You Dig has been very pleased with the exposure provided by the 811 Challenge in the past two years,” said Derek Brown, Vice President of Damage Prevention and Education for Call Before You Dig.  “The 811 Challenge point standings that are posted weekly create excitement amongst the drivers and fans.  August 11 is National 811 day and the additional exposure provides awareness that Call Before You Dig is a required process for homeowners and contractors to use before every project involving excavation.  The risk of personal injury, property damage, and monetary penalties can easily be reduced by using the free service.  It’s easy to call 811 or go to www.cbyd.com before every excavation project.  We’re looking forward to another great year of competition on the track at Stafford and awarding five more drivers the CYBD 811 Challenge $811 bonus.”

Race fans can keep up to date on who are the leading candidates to take home the CBYD 811 Challenge bonus by clicking the CBYD 811 Challenge Points Standings link found on the www.staffordspeedway.com homepage at any point during the 2015 season.

Call Before You Dig is a non-profit organization funded by public utility companies with facilities located in Connecticut.  Call Before You Dig is a free service that provides homeowners and professional excavators an easy way to learn just what underground utilities lie within their proposed work area.  811 was created to help people know what’s below and from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on excavation projects.  811 is a free call to make, and calling Call Before You Dig before using mechanized excavating equipment is the law in Connecticut.  After 2 full working days of your call, a representative from each member utility company that may be affected by an excavation project will come to the site and mark the utility location of their underground facilities with color coded paint or flags, or call if there are no conflicts.  Call Before You Dig can be found online at www.cbyd.com for more detailed information and guidance.
