Reutzel Sets Sights on ASCS National Title!

CLUTE, Texas (January 30, 2015) – Aaron Reutzel already has an ASCS Regional championship to his credit.  He has much bigger things in mind for 2015 though, with the $60,000 Lucas Oil ASCS National championship the primary objective.

“No question about it, the ASCS National championship is the number one goal for this year,” the driver of the BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car explained.

And, boosting that effort toward the top rung of the ladder is Washington-based Shark Racing Engines, newly added to round out the team’s championship makeup.

“We won’t have to worry about the engine side of it with Shark, we’ll be in good shape there,” Reutzel says.  “We feel really good about our entire program, we have all the pieces in place now to make a serious run at the championship.”

A past champion with the ASCS Gulf South Region in 2009, the 2011 ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year broke through with a huge season in 2014.

Reutzel broke into ASCS National victory lane for the first time last April and added three more National triumphs by the time the year was over.  Those four National scores were among nine overall triumphs in the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine along with a runner-up finish in I-30 Speedway’s prestigious Short Track Nationals.

A strong finish to the 2014 season has already carried over to 2015, with Reutzel dropping a 410-ci power plant into the Danny Sander Construction/Butler Built machine for the first time during Cocopah Speedway’s Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown at Yuma, AZ, earlier this month.

After earning front row starting positions the first two nights out, Lady Luck was finally on the Clute, Texas racer’s side in the Winter Heat finale, with Reutzel snaring the $12,000 winner’s share in just his fifth 410-ci effort.

While Reutzel clearly has designs on the ASCS National crown in the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics entry, he’ll still mix in some 410 starts along the way.

“We’ll try to get in as many 410 races as we can on open weekends,” Reutzel says.

After an All Star Circuit of Champions set of events at Ocala’s Bubba Raceway Park next weekend, the real task at hand gets under way at East Bay Raceway Park’s “King of the 360’s” Nationals on February 19-21 near Tampa, the season-opening Lucas Oil ASCS National event.  The series moves on to Bubba Raceway Park the following weekend, February 27-28.

2015 Quick Stats:  5 races, one win, three front-row feature starts.

Up Next: Winged 410-ci Sprint Car action at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL, on February 5-7.
