Segar to Race Limited Micro Schedule

Kendall Segar of Ellington, CT will run a Micro in two special events. While she will take most of the season off, she had had some ride offers.

Segar ran a Micro for seven years at Whip City Speedway. Since 2010, she has raced at tracks like Greenwood Valley Action Track, Hamlin Speedway, Linda’s Speedway and Penn Can Speedway.

She raced  Go-Karts at Pinnacle Raceway, Pomfret Speedway, and Woodstock Fairgrounds. She ran part-time at Stafford Motor Speedway last season. Her father J.R. was a winner in the old Pro Stock division at Stafford.

Segar feels her dad taught her everything she knows about racing from stagger to the chassis setup. Her father is always wanting information as he will soak all that information he can. He will be spend hours just to make the car better for the next race and to her it is very inspiring.

One of her fondest memories with her dad is when she would be in the garage every night helping her father and the crew work on the race car until bedtime or they started the car. Her most vivid memory of the track was the final Pro Stock race at Stafford in 2000. Segar was about five or six years old. She want so badly for her dad to win that race. J.R Segar’s day would come to an end as he was put into the wall. Segar was devastated. “I just remember crying ’cause he didn’t win and I wasn’t going to get to see him win again,” Segar said.

Segar remembers winning her first Micro race. She had the long walk to victory lane from the grandstands, getting out of the car as she was crying. She ran to her dad, jumped into his arms and giving him a big hug. They had lost races because of blown motors and had struggled for so long. That win to her was amazing. Five weeks later, she would head back to victory lane again. She became the most successful female in a 270 in the track’s history. She won a 270 race one night and raced in another division that same night and remembered going for a wild ride.

Segar doe not really have any racing goals this season other than to make the big show at Linda’s Nationals if she decides to run.
