Cane and Andrews Fastest in F1600 Practice

Alton, VA – After two practice sessions for the F1600 Formula F Championship weekend at VIR on Friday, Jordan Cane was able to put down the fastest time of the day with a time of 1:58.694. Second fastest for the day was Scott Andrews who had a time of 1:59.065, followed by was Ben Auriemma with a time of 1:59.184.

This marks a good start to Cane’s first points paying race weekend of the 2015 season. Cane’s original appearance in the series was at the pre-season race in Palm Beach where he led laps in his No. 81 Mygale/Honda for Team Pelfrey.

Andrews, who had the fastest lap in practice one, had to settle for second in practice two. The Australian born driver of the No. 94 car has done very well so far in the 2015 season. Andrews has had three wins out of six races this season and has been able to earn a spot on the podium every race giving him the Championship lead six races into the 21-race season.

Auriemma was able to jump a couple spots and take third for the day after a fifth place result in practice one. Auriemma has had consistent top ten finishes this season and his performance in practice sessions one and two are making this weekend at VIR a promising one. Auriemma is also part of the ever-present Team Pelfrey for practice day at VIR, in his No. 82 Mygale/Honda

Driver of the No. 4 car Ryan Bjerke is making his 2015 season debut this weekend at VIR in a Van Diemen, while Michai Stephens, can be seen in the Jay Motorsports No. 91 Spectrum in his series debut.

Practice 1

Early-morning practice one had some last minute fast laps leading to a Pelfrey heavy top five behind Exclusive Autosport’s Andrews who had the fast time for the first session with a time of 1:59.003. Behind Andrews was Cane with a time of 1:59.189 while Rob Megennis had the third fastest time for practice one with a time of 1:59.652.

Rounding out the top five for practice one were Team Pelfrey teammates No. 83 Andrew Hobbs and No. 82 Auriemma.

K-Hill driver Skylar Robinson finished in sixth for practice one in his No. 12 Mygale Honda. Behind him was teammate and driver of the No. 44 car Austin Mack in seventh.

Exclusive Autosport driver Thomas McGregor had the eighth fastest time for practice one in his Spectrum/Honda.

Masters Class competitor and leader of the F2000 point standings Steve Bamford took ninth for the first session followed by Chastain Motorsports driver Will Harvey.

Practice 2

Cane moved up from practice one and was able to put down the fast time for practice two with Andrews moving down to second place for the second session. Auriemma was behind them with the third fastest time for practice two.

Behind the top three was Pelfrey driver Megennis with the fourth fastest time and Exclusive Autosport team member Thomas McGregor was fifth on the time sheets.

Masters Class driver Jim Goughary put down the sixth fastest time during practice two. Behind him was Pelfrey driver Andrew Hobbs in seventh.

Will Harvey and Skylar Robinson took places eight and nine with Austin Mack closing out the top ten for practice two.
