Robert Alderton from CARQUEST to Serve as Fall Final Grand Marshal at Stafford

Stafford Springs, CT — Robert Alderton, Regional Manager for CARQUEST Belts & Hose, has been named as the grand marshal of Stafford Motor Speedway’s 35th annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend. Alderton is the Regional Manager for the CARQUEST Belts and Hose Division. Alderton resides in Fremont, MI and he handles the upper Mid-West and Northeastern part of the US for CARQUEST Belts & Hose. Alderton began his career with The Gates Rubber Company in 1996 as a Territory Sales Manager for the CARQUEST/Gates sales team. Prior to going to work for Gates, Alderton spent 10 years managing a CARQUEST Auto Parts Store in Michigan. “Michigan Bob” is an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle fan, and when he’s not out riding he can usually be found hunting, or spending time with his wife, children, and new grandson Lucas.

The 35th annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend gets underway Friday, September 28 with a practice session for Stafford‘s weekly divisions. The general admission grandstands will be open to the public at no charge for the practice session.

Action continues on Saturday, September 29 with Bud Pole Qualifying for the Whelen Modified Tour cars, along with heat and consolation races for Stafford‘s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. Following the heat and consolation events will be the final 2007 feature events for Stafford‘s SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions, including the All-Star Paradiso-Muska Shoot-Out event for the DARE Stocks.

On Sunday, September 30th, the CARQUEST Belts & Hose Pit Party takes center stage beginning at 11:00am as all the racecars, drivers, and teams gather on Stafford Motor Speedway’s infield to meet and greet the fans. This is a great opportunity for the fans to get up close to their favorite racecar driver, get autographs, and take pictures. The pit party concludes at noon. The SK Modifieds® are scheduled to take to the green on their last feature for the 2007 season at 1:00pm. The SK Modified® extra distance event of 50-laps will be followed by the Whelen Modified Tour CARQUEST 150.

The CARQUEST 150 will be the fourth appearance of the Whelen Modified Tour at Stafford Motor Speedway this season. It is the 15th event of 16 for the Tour as the 2007 season is coming to a close. The race for the 2007 championship has heated up between Donny Lia and Todd Szegedy as both drivers return to the famed ½ mile, a track that has found them both in victory lane multiple times. Lia won the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler in April and the Connecticut Classic in May while Szegedy is the defending champion of the CARQUEST 150 and has secured three career victories at Stafford. The always exciting Late Model division will wrap up the CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend with an extra distance 40-lap feature.
