Big Wins for FVP National Sprint League Drivers at Southern Iowa Sprintweek

Windom, MN (August 17, 2015) – Ten days of intense sprint car racing came to an end with Saturday night’s 55th Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores.  In the end, Southern Iowa Sprintweek saw NSL members sweep the 360 Nationals, and put six drivers in Saturday’s championship event at the Knoxville Nationals.  In addition, the top three spots and six of the top ten positions in the 2015 Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” standings went to NSL members.  Following are the big winners amongst NSL members during Sprintweek…

Terry McCarl – TMAC started on the front row and led wire to wire in taking his fourth 360 Nationals main event win.  He also won in 1996, 2001 and 2009.  The Altoona, Iowa driver would also win his qualifying night last Thursday at the 410 Nationals securing his 19th start in the biggest event in the sport.  After spending most of the feature in the top ten, he would checker 11th.  TMAC’s strong week was enough to earn him his second career “Mr. Sprint Car” title.

Danny Lasoski – The “Dude” earned second in the “Mr. Sprint Car” standings.  After winning his qualifying night at the 360 Nationals, he finished second in both the “Capitani Classic” and his qualifying night of the Knoxville Nationals.  He would checker eighth in his 25th career Nationals finale Saturday.

Bryan Clauson – Bryan Clauson earned his first career win at the Knoxville Raceway on Friday night.  After a tough qualifying night that saw him charge from the back to a decent finish, he had to start from scratch.  After setting the second quickest lap of his group, he got by Billy Alley and went on to win on Friday, earning a spot in Saturday’s finale for the second year in a row.

Dusty Zomer – Things started well for the Sioux Falls, South Dakota driver in the 360 Nationals.  He won convincingly on his qualifying night before finishing second to McCarl in the finale.  Tough luck hit for the 410 Nationals with a mishap at the start of Saturday’s B main.

Lynton Jeffrey – The Aussie turned Prairie City, Iowa native made it five NSL winners on the week when he took the $10,000 Speed Sport World Challenge on Friday.  The victory gave Lynton a starting spot in Saturday’s finale.  It was the third time in his career that he has qualified for the big dance!

The FVP National Sprint League would like to congratulate all drivers on a successful and safe Southern Iowa Sprintweek!  The series is back in action this Friday night, August 21 at the Fairmont Raceway in Minnesota, and Saturday, August 22 at the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa.
