Car Number Requests for 2016 Being Accepted at Thompson – YankeeRacer.com

Car Number Requests for 2016 Being Accepted at Thompson

(Wednesday, January 6, 2016) — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is accepting applications for car number renewals. The 2016 Driver Registration Form may be accessed from the NASCAR Competitor Info page.

As in previous years, any car owner who secured track points with a registered car number in any of our NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will have until January 15, 2016 to renew that number. If the number is not renewed by January 15, 2016, it will then be assigned to the first person requesting that number. That determination is made by the date that each request is received at the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park track office. If a number is being requested that was not used during the 2015 season, it will be awarded on a first come-first served basis.

The 2016 Driver Registration Form should be downloaded from the track’s web page. The form should then be completely filled out with both the driver and owner information. The form should then be mailed, along with a check for $20.00 to the address shown at the top of the form, attention: Russ Dowd. Those wishing to deliver the Driver Registration Form directly to the speedway should bring with them the required cash or check. As a reminder, this form is also used to generate all payroll information. Therefore, it is important to submit a form that is neat, legible and complete. Forms that are incomplete or can’t be read will be returned to the sender.

Race teams are urged to get their numbers secured for next season as soon as possible. Each year a few teams will put off the renewal process only to find that their number has been assigned to someone else. This is especially troublesome for teams that have already had their race cars lettered before the number is registered with the track. By renewing the car’s number now, racers will avoid such problems. In addition, once a car number is renewed, it will not be given to another competitor at mid-season if the car is not raced by then. Anyone not able to access the Thompson web site may call the speedway office to have a form mailed or faxed to them.

Any questions dealing with this process can be answered by calling the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park track office at (860) 923-2280.
