Southern Modified Racing Series Inaugural Season Schedule Complete
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 15) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials and Renee Hackett announced today the final dates on the inaugural Southern Modified Racing Series Presented by PASS schedule. The South’s newest Tour-type Modified division will compete 11 times during the 2016 season at eight different speedways. In addition to the previously announced events at Hickory Motor Speedway, Concord Speedway, Anderson Motor Speedway, and Caraway Speedway, the Southern Modified Racing Series Presented by PASS schedule will be filled out by dates at Ace Motor Speedway, Tri-County Motor Speedway, and Dillon Motor Speedway. Additionally, four of those events will be “mega-shows,” pairing the Southern Modified Racing Series with the PASS South Super Late Models.
“We are extremely pleased with the schedule we have been able to put together for the debut season of the Southern Modified Racing Series,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “We’ve got a great slate of events which will see the Modifieds race on the same card as the PASS South Super Late Models several times in 2016. But, we’re very proud to have the Southern Modified Racing Series Presented by PASS schedule filled with a group of tracks that have a strong fan base for the Modifieds.”
The inaugural Southern Modified Racing Series Presented By PASS event is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 at Hickory Motor Speedway as part of the 11th Annual Easter Bunny 150 weekend. Along with a PASS National Championship race for the Super Late Models and the first race for the new South East Mini Stock Tour, the prestigious Easter Bunny 150 weekend will only continue to grow in prominence with the addition of the Southern Modified Racing Series.
Following an event at a track to be named soon on Friday night, April 1, the series will move to the newly renamed Ace Motor Speedway in Altamahaw, NC on Friday night, April 22. After the Ace event, the Southern Modified Racing Series will be paired with the PASS South Super Late Models for the next two races on the schedule. The Southern Modified Racing Series will compete on Memorial Day weekend at the ultra-fast Concord Speedway on Friday night, May 27 and then move to Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina on Friday night, June 17.
On Saturday night, July 2, the Southern Modified Racing Series will stage a special Independence Day weekend show at a track soon to be named. Then, on Friday night, July 22 the series will move to the racy confines of Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC.
On Saturday, August 27, the Southern Modified Racing Series will compete at Caraway Speedway, a long-time favorite of Modified fans in the Carolinas for the first of two shows there in 2016. Then, it’s off to Ron Barfield’s Dillon Motor Speedway in the South Carolina Pee Dee region for a special Labor Day race on Monday, September 5, the day following the Southern 500 at nearby Darlington Raceway.
The Southern Modified Racing Series will be back at Caraway Speedway on Saturday night, October 22 before heading to Concord Speedway on Friday night, November 4 for a prelude to the 14th Annual North-South Shootout.
“I’m very excited about the schedule we have been able to put together and to do it in such a relatively short period time,” says the Southern Modified Racing Series’ Renee Hackett. “Ever since we first announced this concept, we have had an enthusiastic response from the competitors and race fans. The tracks we have partnered with are excited and have been great to work with and I just can’t wait to get underway at Hickory in March.”
