Dodge City Modified Stampede this Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 5, 2016) – Added money is on the line for the IMCA Modified ranks at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night as the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas hosts the Fourth Annual Dodge City Modified Stampede.

While the IMCA Modifieds battle it out for a $1,200 winner’s share, the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Sport Modifieds, and IMCA Hobby Stocks will be in action as well on the card that goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Oberlin’s David Murray, a multi-time IMCA Modified national champion, has topped three of four previous Dodge City Modified Stampede features including a sweep of both nights of the inaugural edition in 2013 and then another win in last year’s version.

Past track champion Brendon Gemmill stands as the only other driver to reach Modified Stampede victory lane with a 2014 triumph.  Gemmill, who is one of only two drivers along with his father Troy to finish among the top ten in all four previous Modified Stampede features, rallied from 13th to claim fifth in this past weekend’s season-opening event.

Turpin, Oklahoma’s Cody Gearhart takes the track IMCA Modified points lead into Saturday’s event after some late heroics to win this past weekend’s season-opening event.  Gearhart finished second to Murray in last year’s Dodge City Modified Stampede with Brendon Gemmill third.

In the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car ranks, Dodge City’s Brian Herbert will be gunning for two in a row after holding off Tyler Knight to win the season-opening event.  Reigning track champion Luke Cranston opened the season with a sixth-place run.

Ellis’ Dakota Sproul extended the streak of different IMCA Sport Modified winners to 14 in a row dating back to the 2014 season finale by making a late move by Kevin Tabor to take opening night honors with three-time and reigning track champion Jeff Kaup in third.

In IMCA Hobby Stock action, Des Moines’ invader Shannon Anderson held off a late charge from Matt O’Hair for opening night honors with defending track champion Cody Davis recovering from an early spin to finish eighth.

Tickets to the Fourth Annual Dodge City Modified Stampede are just $15 for adults with children eleven and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
