NASCAR, Whelen To Present Commemorative Watches In 2009
Series And Race Winners To Receive Tissot Watches
Thompson, CT — To commemorate the Silver Anniversary season of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR and sponsor Whelen Engineering will present a commemorative Tissot wrist watch to each of the 14 race winners and the season champion in 2009.
Unveiled during the drivers meeting prior to Sunday’s season-opening event at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway, the silver watches feature the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 25th anniversary logo etched into the back – along with the race date – to commemorate the tour’s Silver Anniversary season.
“The 25th anniversary is a very special season, and to make it even more special for the winner in each of the 14 events, they will be receiving a Tissot watch, which will be a lasting memory of the victory in this very special year,” said Phil Kurze, Whelen Vice President for Motorsports.
The 2009 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule began Sunday afternoon with the Thompson Icebreaker.
