DAV Fall Classic set to roll with bigger and better DAV PRO 150
Each year, the Seekonk Speedway ends their racing season with a weekend special in honor of track founder D. Anthony Venditti.
Venditti built the track with a dream of his in 1946 and the track has held auto racing ever since. He created the top division — the Pro Stocks — in 1978 and since then they have been the top division around the 1/3 mile oval each Saturday night. Currently, they sit as Division I as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Action Track of the East.
This season, the D.A.V. special will roll around with a two-day event, scheduled for Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1 — but the Pro Stock feature will be even bigger than before.
The track has announced that the Pro Stock (Super Late Model) feature — which used to be a 100 lap battle — has been extended to a 150 lap feature event with $5,000 up for grabs to the winner. However, that isn’t the most money that the winner can walk away with at the end of the 150 lap distance.
Lap money can be purchased be anyone who would wish and it will be spread throughout the field, instead of just given to the driver who leads that certain lap. The winner of the feature will receive the $5,000 prize as well as 25 percent of whatever lap money the track raises from here until the week of the race.
For example, if $4,000 was made in lap money for the Pro Stock division, the winner will bring home 25 percent of that $4,000 — an extra $1,000 onto their winning purse giving them a grand total of $6,000. Second place will collect 12 percent of the lap money collected and third will collect 7 percent, while fourth will collect 5 percent and fifth will collect 4 percent.
The rules for the 150 lap Pro Stock thriller will be the same as the rules for the recent Pro Stock/Super Late Model National Championship race that was held in July at Seekonk, won by track regular Tom Scully Jr.
“The speedway is looking to continue to build its race program featuring our headline division of the Pro Stocks,” Ed St. Germain, Director of Business Development said. “With the addition of the Pro/SLM Nationals and the success of lasts years D.A..V race, we think the time is right to give the fans and drivers a fitting race to end the season with a bigger Pro Stock race and purse that we hope to grow more in the future years.”
Starting at 2 p.m. and joining the Pro Stocks, the Division I NASCAR Late Models will compete in a 50 lap special under their American Canadian Tour (ACT) legal rulebook on D.A.V. Saturday and the Division III Street Stocks will hold a 30 lap feature. The Division IV Sports Trucks will have their 30 lap main event as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series as well.
The process of spreading the lap money throughout the field will be the same for each division on D.A.V. weekend. Lap money can be purchased in three different amounts — starting with a gold lap sponsor, worth $25.
Those who want to step it up a notch and increase the division purse have the option of purchasing a platinum lap sponsor worth $50 per lap — or a elite lap sponsor, worth $100 per lap.
The more money that is raised through the lap sponsorship program, the more the purse is in each division. Even though the lap money will spread throughout the field, the process will still be the same — with each sponsor being recognized for the specific lap they sponsored. The names will be announced during the night of racing, seen on the sign board in turn two, in the digital track magazine and on the website, as in the past.
Friday night racing, which will begin at 6 p.m., will feature the weekly divisions that run as part of the Fast Friday Series. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends, Pure Stocks, Sport 4 and Seekonk Youth Racing Association classes will all go for glory around the 1/3 mile. The rules for the Friday night competition will be the same as their weekly racing program and the lap money process of spreading throughout the field will be the same as it is on Saturday.

Friday night will charge an admission cost of just $7 into the front gate, while Saturday will cost those in attendance $25 to see the thrilling Pro Stock battle.
