Mr. Excitement 40 this Saturday at CSP

PEORIA, Ariz. (September 20, 2016) – The regular season at Canyon Speedway Park wraps up in truly “exciting” fashion with the running of this Saturday night’s Mr. Excitement 40 Tribute to Terry Belcher atop the 1/3-mile clay oval near Phoenix.

Late Models and IMCA Modifieds will take center stage in Saturday’s Mr. Excitement 40 with the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Western Mod Lites and Micro Sprints in action as well.  Saturday’s racing action goes green at 7:00 p.m. after an open practice session on Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

While the regular season wraps up with Saturday’s Mr. Excitement 40, there is still some CSP action to take in beginning with the 16th Annual Sands Chevrolet USAC Hall of Fame Classic on September 30 and October 1 and then the Hank Arnold Memorial on October 22.

Saturday’s Mr. Excitement 40 features Late Models atop the 1/3-mile oval for the fourth time this season with Sean Bray, Lonnie Parker, Jr., and Dana Fite splitting victories in the previous three events.

Clay Daly topped last year’s Late Model portion of the Mr. Excitement 40.

In Arizona Differential IMCA Modified action, Mike Strobl is closing in on the CSP track title with a 31 point advantage over Nate Warren with Mike Stultz another 16 points back in third.

Bryson Curry and Jay Foster split the most recent IMCA Modified action with wins over the Stock Car Shootout 100 Labor Day weekend.

While denied the big money in the Stock Car Shootout 100, George Fronsman has been otherwise unstoppable in Allscapes IMCA Stock Car vs. SCRA Stock Car action with ten overall wins for 2016 at CSP to build up a 32-point lead over Cody Center.

It’s neck-and-neck in the Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive IMCA Hobby Stocks vs. Renegades with Richard Bennett and Jacob Madrid tied atop the point charts with Paul O’Connor and Merle Zachrison tied for third, 21 points behind the lead duo.  Madrid topped both nights of the recent Stock Car Shootout 100 weekend to force the tie.

John Priest has topped two of the three most recent Western Mod Lite main events at CSP while the Micro Sprints return to CSP action for the first time since Jarrett Martin raced to victory lane on June 18.

Tickets to Saturday’s “Mr. Excitement 40 Tribute to Terry Belcher” are just $16 with a $3 discount for Military, Seniors and Students.  Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free.  VIP passes are available for $20.
