Pollard Plays a Winning Tune at All American 400
SENOIA, Ga. — Bubba Pollard has won a lot of Late Model races throughout his illustrious racing career. On Sunday night, he won one of the biggest of them all. Pollard of Senoia, GA used a little bit of patience and a whole lot of speed to park his No. 26 in All American 400 Victory Lane at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN).
“I’ll tell you what, we’ve been trying to get here for the 400 and to finally bring it back to a real 400 and be the first one to do it is pretty awesome,” said Pollard. “To join the list of drivers that have won at this place is great.”
Pollard started from the third position and raced towards the front during the beginning of the 400-lap event. During the second competition caution, Pollard got shuffled back after his pit stop, falling outside the top 10. Over the next 150 laps, Pollard held steady around the 10th position before making his move to the front with just over 50 laps to go.
The 29-year-old driver picked off positions one by one, working his way into fifth by lap 332 and third on lap 340. Pollard then took advantage of a late-race restart to take the lead for the final time and never look back, leading the final 28 laps around Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
“We didn’t have the best car in the first half of the race,” Pollard stated. “We adjusted on it and it got a lot better. I thought we were done after that first caution and we got so far back.”
Pollard’s All American 400 win marks his second straight win after a two-month hiatus from asphalt racing. He also remains undefeated in his new Senneker Performance car.
“This thing is two-for-two now,” said Pollard. “It’s a brand new race car and it’s pretty good so we were real happy with it. I can’t thank all my guys enough, I didn’t win, these guys right here won. I can’t thank Five Star, PFC Brakes, Hamner, Sweet, Earnest Performance and Senneker Performance enough for all they do for me, and my wife and new girl at home I love them and wish they could be here.”
