Tripleheader this Week for Bellm
NIXA, Mo. (May 9, 2018) – A big weekend of action is in store for Nixa, Missouri’s Kyle Bellm and the No. 14k Sprint Car team with three events throughout Kansas and Missouri on the docket.
The action begins with a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events at Humboldt Speedway and Kansas City’s Lakeside Speedway in Kansas on Wednesday and Thursday before a return to Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday night.
Bellm and the Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded team have posted past wins at two of this week’s three scheduled tracks.
“It’s been a good track for us the past couple of years, so hopefully we can continue that,” Bellm said of Wednesday’s venue at Humboldt.
Bellm scored a runner-up finish in ASCS National Tour action at Humboldt last year after posting a Regional triumph one year prior.
Bellm has put the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry into Lakeside feature competition over each of the past two years while Lake Ozark Speedway has been a site of much success including a podium finish in the recent season opener.
Bellm will be looking to bounce back after a tough weekend of ASCS Red River vs. ASCS Warrior Region competition aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision machine. Friday’s first visit to Heartland Park Topeka netted a 12th-place finish after challenging for a top-five position and then a lost cylinder while gridding for Saturday night’s feature at Lucas Oil Speedway.
“I felt like we were the fastest car in hot laps,” Bellm said of Friday’s early going at Topeka. “We didn’t get a good start in the heat and had to start 12th in the feature.”
Bellm worked his way forward in the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions/Schaeffers Racing Oil machine, challenging for fourth when the car got loose and spun.
Restarting 19th, Bellm worked his way back to 12th in the closing laps. “I wish we would have had a few more laps, we could have got back to the top five easily,” Bellm recalls.
After drawing a stacked heat at Wheatland’s Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night, Bellm raced his way into the main event through “B” Main action. But this one was over before it started when his machine lost a cylinder before the green flag flew.
Bellm looks to be back on the podium as action resumes this week on a Wednesday night.
2018 Quick Stats: 6 races, 2 top-five, 3 top-tens.
