Speedbowl Cancels June 20 program
Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl has cancelled June 20’s scheduled ACT Tour Nutmeg State 100 and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program due to inclement weather and heavy rains set to arrive for the evening.
The ACT Tour was on hand June 13 when rain halted racing 28 laps into their 100-lap event, originally postponing the event until June 20. The remaining 72-laps of the event is now scheduled to resume on Saturday, August 8.
Norwich Night festivities planned for June 20 will take place on Saturday, June 27. The Speedbowl honors the City of Norwich’s 350th birthday with special $3.50 admission on June 27 for any resident showing proof of residency in the form of a current driver’s license or current city tax or utility bill.
Fans are reminded that tickets issued from June 13 are considered a rain check and valid towards any 2009 event or equal or lesser value. Ticket holders should hold their ticket stubs and present them at the Speedbowl Box Office at the event they choose.
The next event for the Speedbowl will be Wednesday, June 24’s Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday program, the region’s most action-packed and value-priced night of entertainment. Adult tickets are just $7 and all youth 14 years of age and under are admitted free. The action begins at 7:00pm weekly, and is typically complete around 9:00pm.
Next Saturday, June 27 is highlighted by a regular NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race night plus the NEATV Truck Series. The SK Modifieds will race 35-laps, Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Models 30-laps, Street Stocks and Norwich Bulletin Mini Stocks compete in 20-lap events, and the NEATV Trucks race for 25-laps. Adult tickets are $14 and youth age 6-14 are the low price of $5, with children ages 5 and under free. Norwich residents receive the special low price of $3.50 with proof of residency.
