Anthony Campi Racing Adds Colby Howard to Already Impressive Driver Roster for 2019

SARASOTA, FL (Jan. 8, 2019) – The hottest team in southern late model racing, Anthony Campi Racing, today announced the addition of yet another talented prospect to their lineup for the 2019 season. South Carolina native Colby Howard will compete in an ACR-prepared Toyota for at least eleven races this season beginning with the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

Most recently, Anthony Campi Racing fielded the winning ride in the Snowflake 100, the most prestigious pro late model race of the season. The team also visited victory lane in the ARCA Midwest Tour, one of the toughest super late model tours in the nation. ACR’s roster for 2019 includes not only Howard, but also rising stars Giovanni Bromante from New York and Iowa Legend Car graduate and Sammy Smith.

“I’m really excited to race with the ACR team in 2019, they’ve fielded cars for a lot of successful racers and their reputation precedes them,” Howard said of his new racing home this season. “When I was at the Derby with them, I got to see just how professional the entire team was, from Anthony to each of his crew members. I can’t wait to start testing, go to the first race, and chase checkered flags with them this year.”

Team owner Anthony Campi echoed similar sentiments about his newest driver.

“We’ve had our eye on Colby the last couple of seasons and have been monitoring his progress through late model stocks in the Carolinas and his success there,” Campi remarked. “A lot of drivers aren’t capable of making the jump from late models to ARCA like he did last season. We saw a lot of potential which we’re now glad to have as part of our team.”

As a former driver himself, Campi has a proven eye for talent. Drivers who have piloted Campi’s Toyotas in the recent past include last season’s World Series of Asphalt Champion Cole Anderson, NASCAR Truck Series racer Tyler Dippel, Canadian late model standout Raphael Lessard and the defending Snowflake 100 winner Chase Purdy.

Although his first race is still nearly two months away, adding his name to the list of ACR drivers has Howard optimistically anxious.

“Yes, there’s a little bit of pressure going into it based off their showing at Montgomery last year, and knowing they won the Snowflake in the same car,” Howard said. “I just want to win races. For me, 2019 is a really important year in my racing career. I really wanted to do Speedfest, but we couldn’t get it worked out, so now I have to wait even longer to get behind the wheel. The anticipation is killing me!”

Howard will hit the track with Anthony Campi Racing during the first weekend of March at Montgomery Motor Speedway as part of the Alabama 200 weekend. Festivities commence on March 1 with preliminary on-track activities and feature racing on Saturday afternoon.
