It’s Off to Outlaw Speedway Wednesday, June 19 for the Short Track Super Series North Region
DUNDEE, NY – For the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco, it’s off to Outlaw.
Outlaw Speedway, that is!
On Wednesday, June 19, Tyler Siri’s Dundee, N.Y., facility hosts the ‘Outlaw Showdown’ for the STSS big-block/small-block Modified Halmar International North Region. The 50-lap event pays $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag from a posted total purse of more than $25,000! A number of special awards and bonuses further sweeten the pot for competitors.
Of course, valuable points toward the STSS Halmar International North Region $12,500 championship battle are up for grabs, as well, in the fourth North race of the season.
Currently, ‘Super’ Matt Sheppard sits atop the standings following his most recent conquest at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa., during the only North-South combination event of 2019.
Sheppard calls Outlaw Speedway home on Friday nights and won the STSS visit to the track in 2016 while driving for Norm Hansell.
The top-12 drivers in the standings entering the June 19 program are Sheppard, Mike Gular (only 12 points out of the lead), Mat Williamson, Stewart Friesen, Andy Bachetti, Billy Decker, Anthony Perrego, Mike Mahaney, Danny Creeden, Craig Hanson, Allison Ricci and Danny Johnson.
Complete point standings can be found at the following link: https://stss.racestatcentral.com/?IDseries=1&IDseason=2019
A year ago, Friesen invaded Outlaw and took home the $5,200 victory after a back-and-forth battle with Pennsylvania’s Duane Howard. Friesen led Alan Johnson, Mat Williamson, Mike Mahaney and Ryan Godown across the line. Howard ultimately succumbed to a flat tire, eliminating a strong finish.
The first STSS visit to Outlaw in 2016 saw Sheppard best Erick Rudolph, Andy Bachetti, Danny Creeden and Billy Van Pelt.
Gates open at 4 p.m. on June 19. The drivers’ meeting and draw for heat-race starting positions takes place at 5:40 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6 p.m. and racing is set for 7 p.m.
Adult admission is $25. Seniors pay $23. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $40, with no license required.
