Cannon McIntosh Set for POWRi Midget Double at Lake Ozark

BIXBY, Okla. (August 27, 2019) – Cannon McIntosh is ready for a holiday weekend at the lake.  But it won’t be any leisurely water activities, as he’ll be behind the wheel of the Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 Midget for this weekend’s pair of Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League events at Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway.

The two-day card atop the 1/3-mile clay oval takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

McIntosh enters the weekend after a four-race stretch of Midget events in Illinois two weekends earlier.  The 16-year-old also tried to take in a $5,000-to-win Micro Sprint event this past weekend at Arkoma Speedway, only to have the finale washed out by inclement weather.

The recent Illinois swing on August 15-18 netted a pair of top ten finishes with another event rained out.

The four-race set kicked off with POWRi Midget action at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway on Thursday, August 15.  After blowing a power steering line in heat race action, McIntosh rallied through the “B” Main and then climbed from 19th to salvage a tenth-place finish for the night.

“We made it up to eighth at one point,” McIntosh recalls.  “It was a good run for us from the tail.”

More POWRi action followed the next night at Lincoln Speedway with a strong second-place run in heat race action and a good start to the feature before mechanical issues cut the night short.

“We were really good in the heat race, then we ran right up to Zeb (Wise) in the first four laps of the feature before the cam spud stripped out,” McIntosh explains.

Following a Saturday night rainout at Macon Speedway, the team wrapped up the weekend with the Jacksonville Speedway Midget Nationals on Sunday, August 18.

McIntosh checked out in his heat race, only to get tripped up by the turn one cushion and turn over on the final lap.

“I was driving hard, on kill, I took it into one and biked it up on the cushion,” McIntosh says.  “I had no idea we were that far ahead of everyone.”

Battling back into a transfer position in the qualifying race after quick repairs, McIntosh raced his way to a ninth-place finish by the end of the feature event.

“I couldn’t get going at the start of the feature, then we finally got it rolling and got a decent finish,” McIntosh explains.  “It wasn’t a bad comeback.”

McIntosh is looking for a pair of strong runs this weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway with a potential first POWRi National Midget League still looming.

“We have the speed each time out, we just need to put together a full night,” McIntosh sums up.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.
