Porsche Pays Homage to Past & Present Champions at 2019 Awards Dinner
Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia crowns 2019 champions with record Prize pool
One of the most anticipated highlights of the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia season is the Awards Dinner. This year the event was again held at the prestigious QT hotel on the Gold Coast after final round and played host to drivers, teams, sponsors and media partners of Australia’s premier one-make championship.
The theme to this year’s event was inspired by Cirque du Soleil with guests entertained by a host of performers and musicians throughout the evening. While the evening is intended to celebrate the achievements of both the drivers and teams of the current season, 2019 also marks the 15th anniversary of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia.
As a result the series’ took the opportunity at the start of the evening to pay homage to its past champions in attendance including: Jim Richards (2003); Alex Davison (2004); Fabian Coulthard (2005); Craig Baird (2006, 2008-2013); David Reynolds (2007); Steve Richards (2014) and David Wall (2017). Nick Foster (2015); Matt Campbell (2016) and Jaxon Evans (2018) were the only champions not in attendance due to their racing commitments abroad.
Thanks to support of the series’ sponsors the 2019 winners will also enjoy the largest prize pool in Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia’s history. Three new initiatives for 2019 include the Meguiar’s Best Presented Award; Morris Finance Sportsperson of the Year and the Mechanic and Engineer of the Year awards.
With strong interest across every class including Pro, TAG Heuer Pro-Am and Michelin Junior for 2020, Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia continues to be the premier one-make series in Australia showing continued interest from top drivers, teams and sponsors.
