Elma, N.Y. – (April 21, 2020) – Virtual “Thursday Night Thunder” resumes Thursday night, April 23rd at 7:30pm on iRacing, this time at the USA International Speedway with another 125-lap feature event, with the content being shown as part of Speed51.com Speed51 eSports program.

More than 80 entries have come together once again, with several Race of Champions Modified Series competitors joining racers from different regions of the country as well as all different forms of motorsports pouring in. Blake Barney of Jackson, New Jersey is the latest driver to enter.

The first event which took place at virtual Concord Motorsport Park was won by Ryan Doucette from Framingham, Massachusetts, who is an experienced i-Racer. Bryce Bailey of Tioga, N.Y., captured the second race of the Series at Oxford Plains (Mainer) Speedway on Thursday, April 9.

The format for the Thursday night race will remain the same as the Oxford Plains event. There will be 50 driver’s locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event, with all Race of Champions Series drivers, regardless of Series, with more than one (1) “official” Race of Champions Series start, being locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event. The balance of the 50 drivers locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event will be the drivers who qualified for the Oxford Plains Speedway feature and the remaining few positions will be filled out based on the “B-Main” finishes by invitation only. Drivers that violate the invitation system and are not in the first will be removed from the event. In the event there is another violation by any driver in this regard, that driver will be suspended indefinitely from the Series.

All remaining drivers will go into the 6:45pm qualifying event and compete for the remaining 12 positions in the 7:30pm event.

In addition Race of Champions management is working on a new event, which will be a multiple day “i-Racing” event featuring multiple divisions.. Information in regard to this event will be released shortly.

The Series next event will provide a return to road racing for Modifieds with a special 50-lap event at Lime Rock Park on Thursday, April 30.

The Series will conclude with a “one-off” event taking place at Irwindale Speedway and open to the top-30 invitations based on performance and effort, with select driver’s from this series and others earning an invitation to the “Virtual RoC Invitational Showdown”.

The Race of Champions partnered with Sim Racers for Mental Health for a series of events during the late Fall 2019, into the Winter ending in January 2020. Tommy Kreymborg, a young racer from North Sea, N.Y., was crowned the intial Race of Champions Series eSports champion.
