Former Danbury Crew Member Robert Wells Passes at 77

Robert Alan Wells, Sr., age 77 of Bethel, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at his home with his family in attendance, after a short battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Stanton Wells.

He was born in New Milford, CT, July 23, 1930 son of the late Franklin and Alma Smith Wells. He was an automobile mechanic, until moving to Kissimmee, FL, where he worked at Walt Disney World for 10 years, returning to the area after the death of his wife.

Bob’s passions included the New York Yankees, the New York football Giants and NASCAR racing. He was a life member of the Southern New York Racing Assoc., serving in several capacities, including ambulance driver and pit crew member of both Chick Stockwell and his son.

His greatest passion however was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Regional Hospice for their valuable help and attendance to Robert’s needs.

Robert is survived by his two sons: Robert A. Wells, Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla., Godfrey S. Wells of Sandy Hook; two daughters: Alison Logie and her husband Ian of Easton, Sandra “Sandi” Cole and her husband Douglas of Bethel; two sisters: Kay Wells of Virginia, Judy Wells-Humphrey of Louisiana; six grandchildren: Ian Logie, II, Cari-ann Logie, Tracy Gallagher, Emmett Cole, Courtney Cole, Tiffany Wells; three great-grandchildren: Bethany Cole, Morgan and Jared Gallagher as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Franklin and James Wells and sister: Marion Hettel.

The funeral service will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, Wednesday evening from 6 to 9. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
