Modified Racing Series Lands Stafford Race

Canaan, NH — “Our heritage is modifieds. We have watched this series for six years and they have modified racing’s best interest.” Those were the words of Stafford Motor Speedway chief operating officer and general manager, Mark Arute, after announcing the addition of the Modified Racing Series to his 2010 schedule at the famed Connecticut oval.

Friday night Sept 10, 2010., will find the New England based tour taking to the half-mile speedway for the first time. The event promises to draw entries from throughout the northeast and some of the top names in modified racing.

“We have listened to our fans and competitors,” said Arute. “Our supporters have been very vocal. They have told us we need to consider bringing in the Modified Racing Series. We reconsidered some past stances on the series. We are delighted to be bringing the Modified Racing Series to Stafford.”

Series founder and president, Jack Bateman, was equally as pleased. Stafford has been on the MRS radar for some time. “When we started branching out with the series, coming to Connecticut, Stafford was always on my mind. I am pleased that we will have the opportunity to showcase our series at a premier speedway like Stafford Springs.”

The addition of the Stafford event brings the total to 20 races for 2010. It has been the practice of Bateman to add a new venue each of the last six seasons. This off-season Bateman has scored a “hat trick” with three new race events for the new campaign. “Albany-Saratoga, Airborne, and now Stafford Springs, the icing on the cake.”

Stafford modified fans will be treated to qualifying races to determine the starting lineup for the 100 lap feature. For more information, www.staffordmotorspeedway.com.
