Rain Postpones Connecticut Classic 150

Stafford Springs, CT — The Connecticut Classic 150 Featherlite Modified Series, NASCAR Touring race, originally scheduled for May 24, 2002 has been postponed to Friday, May 31, because of rain. The starting field is set as Bud Pole qualifying was completed before the inclement weather struck.

A total of 44 Featherlite Modified Series drivers went under the clock at the 1/2 mile Connecticut oval for the 31 starting spots available. Nevin George of Kunkletown, Pa., who scored his first career series win at Nazareth, Pa. last week, earned his first career Bud Pole with a time of 18.370 seconds for an average speed of 97.986 seconds in the Bruce George Paving Chevrolet. Ted Christopher, winner of the Spring Sizzler at Stafford in April, was second fastest with a speed of 97.933 mph in the Mystique Motorsports Chevrolet. Robbie Summers, Jerry Marquis and Jamie Tomaino rounded out the Top-5 in qualifying.

The six fastest qualifiers drew for starting position. Christopher drew the number one starting position and will be joined on the front row by Tomaino. George and Marquis will make up the second row. Dave Berghman and Summers will start fifth and sixth respectively.

Current series points leader Mike Stefanik will start 11th.
