Jason Gray wins 2nd DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds
Mall Ellsworth grabs the win in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes
Limited fans in the stands see some great racing and an outstanding firework show, courtesy in part by Noise R’ Us Fireworks, on F.M.S. NAPA of Bradford night. The evening winners were: Jason Gray in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Matt Ellsworth in the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, George Osgood in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models, Lucas Wheeler in the LaValley’s Building Supply Dirt Stockers, and Jason Porter in the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders.
In the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds Jason Gray put on a whale of a performance coming from deep deep deep in the field. Gray took the lead on lap thirty and from there sailed on for the win. James Fadden picked up his tail on the way by making his way to a second-place finish. Jordan Fornwalt joined the duo to claim the final victory lane spot. Richie Simmons with his best run of the season came home in fourth with Matt Lashua finishing in fifth.
It looked like the makings of a triple crown for Bob Shepard in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, unfortunately, after winning his heat and the semi feature, his pole starting position did not work out the way he had hoped. Midway thru the main event, the handling started going away as did his sights on the coveted triple crown. Tonight, it would be Matt Ellsworth’s night to shine as he made his way to the front and the point midway thru the race and hold on to it for the win. Joining him in victory lane coming from deep in the pack was Tad Kingsbury and Tyler Stygles. Melvin Pierson and Thomas Placey finished out the top five.
The USAC DMA Midgets were off and will be back in action on July 11, 2020.
The C.A. Miller Limited Late Models and LaValley’s Building Supply Dirt Stockers had a combined field of fourteen cars, with thirteen taking the green for their main event. Lucas Wheeler in his first performance of the season grabbed the win for the LaValley’s Building Supply Dirt Stockers with Jesse Dunham and Troy Prentice coming home in third. George Osgood gets the win in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models with Ryan Christian coming home in second and Tyler Tremblay in third. John Neddo and Kelly Miller rounded out the top five.
Once again, an impressive field was on hand for the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders. Jason Porter coming from the eighth-place spot was able to jump to the lead in only two laps and cruise on to his first win of the season. Buddy Welch was the man on the move working his way from nineteenth to cross the line in second with Dennis Perry coming home in third. Kevin LaForest and Bobby Bell finished out the top five.
The Mike Estrada State Farm 4 Cylinder Enduro will return for racing action on Saturday, July 25th.
The first appearance of the season for the WYKR Sprint Cars of New England had Chris Donnelly driving for the Fornwalt stable leading the way to the checkers for the field. Starting from the fifth-place spot it didn’t take him long to gain the point and cruise on for his first win. The battle for second was a tight one for several laps and at the end, Scottie Holcomb was able to grab the bridesmaid position with Will Hull doing double duty, also driving in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes came home in the third-place spot. Jacob Williams and Travis Billington completed the top five. The WYKR Sprint Cars of New England are scheduled to return on August 1st.
Racing action will resume this coming Saturday, July 11th with our David’s House Benefit night. The night will offer a full card of racing for the 99Rock weekly racing series, with the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, the USAC DMA Midgets, CA Miller Limited Late Models, LaValley’s Dirt Stockers and the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders. Plus the Granite State Mini Sprints, all sponsored by Dennis Preston Builder and Hoosier Tire East.
We will be allowed again limited fans in the stands this coming Saturday, July 11th. As per the designated VT state guidelines, we will continue to enforce social distancing and face coverings at all times. All people entering the property will be required to wear face coverings at all times and to be temperature checked. To order your tickets ahead of time to guarantee you can see the best dirt track racing in call 603/787-6352 Monday July 6th from 3:00 to 7:00; Wednesday July 8th from 3:00 to 7:00; and Friday July 10th from 3:00 to 7:00, or email brsdirt@charter.net. We want to thank everyone for their cooperation last week. It took a lot of work to pull it off, we know we had a few bumps during the evening, and we appreciate your understanding.
As with last week, there will be designated sections of seating, again with limited seating in each section. KEEP POINTS TO KNOW we are working under the “arrive, play and leave” mentality. Groups may not gather before during or after activities (no tailgating, etc.). You will NOT be able to go into any section but the one your tickets are in. You will NOT be able to leave the grandstand area to go out to your vehicle. NO ONE will be able to come out of the pits to see you. You can NOT arrive before the gates open to save your seats. You will be required to provide your name and phone number for contact tracing purposes. Again we are working under the “arrive, play and leave” mentality.
General Admission tickets $10.00 adults, $8.00 seniors & teens, $2.00 kids. Pit entry fee is $25.00 for 2020 Registered members, and $30.00 for non-members- must be over the age of ten to enter the pits.
Gates will open at 3:00pm gates and will be close at 7:00 pm. No entry will be allowed after that time. You will be required to enter your designated ticket area or pits immediately upon arrival, there will be no “tailgating” before the events. Racing will kick into gear at 6:00 pm(ish), based on track conditions. Once the events have concluded for the evening everyone will be required to leave the facility, there will be no “tailgating” after the events. Once you enter designated ticket area or the pits you will not be able to leave, (there will be no re-entry), if you leave you will be required to leave the property immediately.
We are just as anxious as everyone is to get things back to our “new norm” until then we continue to work diligently within the Vermont State guidelines, to ensure that we are doing everything in our power to keep everyone safe, and sincerely appreciate your understanding. As we progress, we will keep you updated of any changes. Racing will kick into gear at 6:00 pm(ish), based on track conditions, and as always Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Again to be sure to get your tickets call 603/787-6352 during the hours indicated above or email brsdirt@charter.net, and check out our facebook page and web site for more information.
