Ben Rowe Wins Wild Mason-Dixon Meltdown at Concord On Final Lap

Concord, NC — In what could only be described as unbelievable, Ben Rowe capped off an amazing 2007 season in Saturday night’s 2nd Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown at Concord Motorsport Park (NC) by passing Corey Williams on the final turn of the final lap to take the victory.

Rowe passed Corey Williams as the white and yellow flags were waving at the same time. PASS South rules dictate that once the leaders have taken the white flag, they race to the checkers unless the track is blocked and officials deem it a red-flag period. Williams came out of the final turn, ducked low to avoid a spun car and got out of the gas long enough to allow Rowe to jump to the outside and take the checkers in the final 50 feet of the race.

It was a shootout right to the very end, as Clark took the lead from PASS North Series champion Ben Rowe with just 16-laps remaining to grab the $5,000 to prize in the next-to-last event on the 2007 PASS South season.

Mike Rowe was the fastest driver in qualifying, and after the Dash race he started from the third position with his son Ben starting on the point. Throughout the event, it was the younger Rowe that showed the muscle as he paced the field for the majority of the race. It wasn’t until late in the event when Clark pushed his car up into the top five, eventually sitting second to Rowe.

PASS North Standouts Make Travel Plans for Greenville’s “Howler”

Concord, NC — The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model season is now complete and teams just barely made their season finale in among the threat of rain and snow on October 14th at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park.

So now what is a true racer to do? Wait for 2008 to come around or find somewhere else to race? Well, the answer for several of the top names up North is simple – they all know that it is time to start looking South for more racing opportunities before the end of the calendar year. Some PASS North teams are looking towards November’s Mason-Dixon Meltdown at Concord Motorsport Park (NC) and some are also looking at running the Snowball Derby in Florida this December. PASS South To Bring Super Late Models Back To Greenville-Pickens

Concord, NC — One thing Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, South Carolina is used to is tradition. Tradition is something the track was built on. In fact, the entire outside wall at Greenville-Pickens Speedway tells of its rich tradition, with names such as Pearson, Earnhardt, Pressley and Lindley emblazoned on it as former track champions. Tradition is something that racing fans stick with and love to abide by.

One tradition that has been missing from Greenville-Pickens Speedway for years is the power of true Super Late Model racing. That tradition, however, will reemerge in October however, as full-blown Super Late Models will return to the half-mile speedway, when the PASS South tour makes its inaugural visit to the historic track. “The Howler” event will feature a 150-lap event for PASS Super Late Models on Saturday, October 27th.

Zach Stroupe Youngest Ever to Lead Laps in PASS South

Concord, NC — 2007 is a learning season for 14-year-old Zach Stroupe. In the competitive Super Late Model world in the Southeast, it is hard for any driver or team to make their first-ever season in the high-horsepower racecar series an impressive one.

So far in 2007, however, Zach Stroupe and the BDI Racing team have been doing nothing but impress. Even though the finishes may not show it, the #51 Chevrolet team has been turning heads at tracks from North Carolina to Florida in their rookie season with strong showings in some of the toughest SLM series in the South.

Heath Hindman Adds Another First to PASS South’s Hickory Lore

Hickory, NC — Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) has been the site of many firsts when it comes to the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model tour in the last two years.   Hickory was the site of the first ever PASS South race in April 2006 and saw Mike Rowe take the first checkered flag.   It was the site of Ryan Lawler’s first-ever PASS South victory and he has turned that success into two more series wins since then.

On Saturday, September 29th, the firsts kept rolling in and Heath Hindman could not be happier about it.    While the running of the “Over the Mountain 150” at Hickory saw drivers making their first PASS South starts and others leading their first-ever laps in Super Late Model competition, it was Hindman that scored the best first of all.

Peltier Hopes To Break Runner-Up Curse In PASS South At Hickory

Concord, NC — There have been a few guys that have become synonymous with the PASS South Super Late Model Series.  Just a few names have made every single start since the inception on the series in 2006.  One of those is Concord, North Carolina’s Preston Peltier.

Peltier has quite a track record in his PASS South career.  In 13 races, Peltier has earned three top-fives, six top-10s and a series-leading five poles.  But that doesn’t quite tell the whole story.  If there was a category for “near wins,” Peltier would easily have a number that closely matches the 13 PASS South races he has run.
