Abold Emerges as Northeast Ford Focus Champ Following Oct. Seekonk Cancellation

Jeff Abold of Pennellville, N.Y. is the 2007 USAC Northeast Ford Focus driving champion and his team, Pat Abold Motorsports, is the car entrant champion. Abold emerged as the champion following the cancellation of the originally-scheduled October 6-7 events at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway.

Abold, who was the runner-up to Ryan Smith in the 2006 series standings, posted five victories, a second and two fourths while notching 11 “top-10s” in 12 starts and finished 27 points ahead of P.J. Stergios in the final standings.]

Focus Race at All-Star Cancelled

 

USAC Northeast Ford Focus Series Coordinator Tim Sassaman and Epping, N.H. race organizer Bobby MacArthur have agreed to the cancelation of this Saturday’s originally-scheduled race at Star Speedway. Discussions are continuing regarding possible USAC events at Star Speedway in 2008.

Abold Grabs Wall Township 25-Lap Focus Feature

Belmar, N.J — USAC Northeast Ford Focus Series point leader Jeff ABold of Pennellville, N.Y. won Saturday night’s 25-lap feature at Wall Township Speedway in his Team Abold Racing/A & P Automotive Hawk, leading all 25 laps. Jeremy Tsihlis, Shaun Gosselin, P.J. Stergios and Jake Stergios rounded out the “top-five.”

Intravaia Gets 3rd Northeast Victory, Winning at Chemung

Series point leader Jeff Abold finished second ahead of Shaun Gosselin, P.J. Stergios and Sean Carman.

Osborne Wins Northeast Focus at Spencer Speedway

Williamson, NY — Ryan Osborne of Milford, N.J. led all 20 laps to win Friday night’s USAC Northeast Ford Focus feature at Spencer Speedway. He was trailed by Steven Intravaia, Shaun Gosselin, Sean Carman and P.J. Stergios at the checkered flag. Series point leader Jeff Abold was 13th but still has 14-point lead over Stergios going into Saturday’s race at the Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome.

Rookie Intravia Wins Waterford CT Focus

Intravia was driving the S & S Speedways sponsored 2005 Beast chassis Focus Midget that the team purchased from the 2006 USAC Northeast Ford Focus Series champion Ryan Smith.

Double Features Part of Northeast Focus Program Saturday at Oswego

Indianapolis, IN — Double features are on the card of Saturday’s USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series at Oswego Speedway in New York, and Ryan Osborne is set to extend his point lead with what he hopes is his first victory.Osborne, of Milford, N.J., leads Ryan Smith by five points heading into Saturday’s program, which presents a rescheduled event from a previous washout and an already scheduled event on the quarter-mile track. Osborne is still seeking his initial series triumph after scoring a pair of second-place finishes at Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut and Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts.

Northeast Focus Midgets Endure More Showers

Indianapolis, IN  — Rain is fast becoming the enemy in USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series competition.Mother Nature won another date with the series, postponing Friday’s race at Chemung Speedrome in New York. It marked the third event in five races this season rain caused a cancellation or postponement for the series.

Osborne Claims Point Lead After Abold Seekonk Win; Teams Head to Chemung Saturday

Indianapolis, IN — Ryan Osborne of Milford, N.J. overtook Nick Wean of the same town Saturday at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway, in a USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series race won by Jeff Abold, and Osborne will be among the favorites to win or at least try to expand his point lead when teams and drivers head west to Chemung Speedrome in New York.Abold led the final nine laps of the Seekonk race, besting Osborne, Sean Carman, Ryan Smith and Shawn Gosselin. Wean slipped to sixth in points after finishing last in the 19-car field.

Abold Tops Northeast Focus Race at Seekonk

Seekonk, MA — Jeff Abold of Pennellville, N.Y. paced the final nine laps of Saturday night’s 25-lap USAC Northeast Ford Focus feature at Seekonk Speedway.

Ryan Osborne took second ahead of Sean Carman, Ryan Smith and Shawn Gosselin. Stephanie Stevens led the first seven laps, then Osborne led nine laps before yielding to Abold.

Rain Causes Postponement at Lowville

Lowville, NY — Rain has forced postponement of Saturday night’s USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series race at Adirondack International Speedway.

Rain Postpones Northeast Ford Focus Race; Lowville Up Next

Indianapolis, IN — The Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series remained near stagnant after Saturday’s feature postponement at Oswego Speedway in New York, but competitors look for better weather to run again this weekend.

Competitors trek to Adirondack International Speedway in Lowville, N.Y. for Saturday’s race, the first at the track in 2006. The event will also be the second for the series after rain forced the postponement of Saturday’s feature at Oswego.

Rain Forces Northeast Focus Feature Postponement

Oswego, NY — USAC’s Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series feature has been postponed after rain interrupted the program Saturday at Oswego Speedway.

Ryan Smith and Stephanie Stevens won the eight-lap heat races before the rains came. The feature has been rescheduled for June 17.

Wean Leads Northeast Focus Midgets to Oswego

Wean Opens Northeast Focus Campaign With Win

Indianapolis, IN Milford, N.J. native Nick Wean opened USAC’s Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series 2006 season up with his second career victory Saturday at the Waterford (Conn.) Speedbowl.Wean, driving the family-owned No. 78 Johnny’s Truck Stop entry, led all 20 laps of the event, besting a field of 16 other cars. Trailing Wean – last year’s third-place points finisher – were Ryan Osborne, Ryan Smith, Sean Carman and Jesse State. Carman and Smith won eight-lap heat races.

Northeast Focus Series Opens Season Saturday

Indianapolis, IN — USAC’s Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series gears up for its second season of action this Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, Conn.

Defending series champion Michael Sboro, who did not plan to compete in last year’s Northeast region fulltime, may make occasional appearances in the Northeast. Sboro, a native of Watertown, N.Y. now living in Mooresville, N.C., has competed in the Carolina/Virginia region already this season, having led laps Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
