A red hot Bruce Thomas Jr. continues his quest of the consecutive-win mark in the Late Model division. He is currently two away from the record (five) held by the legendary Phil Rondeau.

Waterford, CT — The only leader, Tom Fox captured Saturday night’s 35-lap SK-Modified feature, securing a guaranteed spot in the SK-portion of the North-South Shootout Nov. 4 in Concord, NC. Glen Billings won the 50-lap Legends National Qualifer.
Bruce Thomas Jr. won the 30-lap Late Model feature. Mark LaJoie (Sportsman) and Phil Evans (Mini Stock) were also winners.

Waterford, CT — Chris Bakaj notched the 20-lap Legends feature on Wednesday evening. Starting mid-pack, he grabbed the lead from Max Zachem with 11-laps remaing, going on to win by several car lengths.Other feature winners were Jon Porter (Super X Car), Craig Miner (X Cars) and, Richard “Bubby” Brouwer (X Modifieds).
“The car was on a rail tonight, no doubt about it,” said Bakaj of his third Wednesday night Legends win of the season. “It was a little slick up on the outside, but I managed to get by Max up there early, and that was the key. Max is a tough competitor and never easy to go by.”

Waterford, CT — The Shriners, complete with their internationally famous “Mini Cars” will be on hand Saturday night at Waterford Speedbowl. Masters of comedy and hi-jinks, the Shriners compliment five divisions of auto racing including special events for the SK-Modifieds and the Legends.
The 35-lap SK winner earns a guaranteed spot in the Nov.3 North-South Shootout at Concord (NC) Motorsports Park while the 50-lap Legends event is a qualifier for the INIS Nationals Oct. 11-13 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A large list of Legends will qualify via time trials.

Waterford, CT — Fittingly, it was a familiar name in victory lane on Nostalgia Weekend at the Speedbowl, as second-generation racer and past champion Jeff Pearl held off Dennis Gada to grab his fifth SK Modified feature win of the season.

Waterford, CT — Jeff Paul bid farewell to a season-long string of bad luck Saturday night, handily capturing the 35-lap SK-Modified feature at Waterford Speedbowl. The sophomore SK driver survived a host of restarts as well as a late-race charge from Rob Janovic Jr. to win his first main event since August of 2006.
Bruce Thomas Jr. collected his seventh victory of the year in the 30-lap Late Model race.

Waterford, CT — Jeffrey Paul beat back a final challenge from Rob Janovic Jr. and captured Saturday night’s 35-lap SK-Modified feature. He grabbed the lead on lap 11 and then survived a host of restarts, the last with six left.
Bruce Thomas Jr. won the 30-lap Late Model race. Other winners were Jack Aquilina (Sportsman), Phil Evans (Mini Stock) and Mark Bakaj (Legends).

Weekly short track racing will continue for the foreseeable future in southeastern Connecticut.
A foreclosure auction of the Waterford Speedbowl property scheduled for noon Saturday was canceled this morning by a Superior Court judge in Norwich.
Terry Eames, who leads a group that owns the Waterford Speedbowl, confirmed that his group has acquired new financing to avoid the foreclosure and keep the property running as a racetrack.

Waterford, CT — George Whitney outdistanced Chris Bakaj to win his first Legends main event of the season.
Other Wild N’ Wacky feature winners were Mark Cooper (Super X Cars), Dean Christensen (X Modified), and, Brad Voglesong & Jeff Mehlenbacher (X Cars). Kathryn Civardi teamed with Greg Moran Jr to win the Women On Wheels event.

Waterford, CT — Back a month or so, Shawn Monahan decided to commit to a drive for the 2007 Waterford Speedbowl SK-Modified championship. It has not, however, slowed him down.
The Speedbowl mainstay who won his second victory of 2007 last week, takes a slim eight-point lead over Rob Janovic Jr. into Saturday night’s 35-lap feature. Dennis Gada, who finished a frustrating fourth last week, is still in the hunt as well, just 24 back.

Waterford, CT — It only took 8 races for 19 year old Rookie Steven Intravia, from Saylorsburg, Pa. to win his 1stUSAC Northeast FordFocus featureat the Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut.
Intravia was driving the S & S Speedways sponsored 2005 Beast chassis Focus Midget that the team purchased from the 2006 USAC Northeast Ford Focus Series champion Ryan Smith.

Waterford, CT — With nine circuits remaining, Shawn Monahan passed brother Diego going on to win his second 35-lap SK Modified feature of the year. “Tonight the car was extra-good, and I was extra-determined to win,” stated Monahan. “I knew on that last restart that if I didn’t get by my brother, I was going backwards, and fast. Tonight we worked as a team, and held-off two of the very best in Zach Sylvester Dennis Gada.”
Defending champion Gada tried on several occasions to slip into the lead using the outside groove, but each time Monahan was able to repel him.

Waterford, CT — Continuing rains have forced Speedbowl management to cancel this week’s Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday program. Mid-week racing continues with next Wednesday’s unique ‘Guys ‘n Dolls’ version of the Geico Women on Wheels event along with the regular four Wednesday divisions. The July 18th program, which included the rained out X-Car feature from July 4, will be run on Aug. 1.
Action resumes this Saturday evening with a full program of NASCAR Whelen All American Series SK Modified, Late Model, Sportsman, and Mini Stock racing. Also making an appearance for the second time in 2007 will be the USAC Ford Focus Midgets presented by Mohegan Sun.

Waterford Speedbowl is facing a foreclosure auction July 29, but the track’s owners are optimistic they will have finances in place to avoid the sale.
Terry Eames, who heads 1080 Hartford Road LLC, said an agreement to sell a portion of the property to Harvey Industries is in the final stages and plans for refinancing the Speedbowl are in place to avoid foreclosure by Washington Mutual Inc. (more…)
Indianapolis, IN Milford, N.J. native Nick Wean opened USAC’s Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series 2006 season up with his second career victory Saturday at the Waterford (Conn.) Speedbowl.Wean, driving the family-owned No. 78 Johnny’s Truck Stop entry, led all 20 laps of the event, besting a field of 16 other cars. Trailing Wean – last year’s third-place points finisher – were Ryan Osborne, Ryan Smith, Sean Carman and Jesse State. Carman and Smith won eight-lap heat races.

Waterford, CT — Nick Wean of Milford, N.J. captured Saturday night’s 20-lap USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series opener at the Waterford Speedbowl.
He led all 20 laps to beat Ryan Osborne, Ryan Smith, Sean Carman and Jesse State.

Indianapolis, IN — USAC’s Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series gears up for its second season of action this Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, Conn.
Defending series champion Michael Sboro, who did not plan to compete in last year’s Northeast region fulltime, may make occasional appearances in the Northeast. Sboro, a native of Watertown, N.Y. now living in Mooresville, N.C., has competed in the Carolina/Virginia region already this season, having led laps Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
