Chris Perley, Bobby Santos, III, & Norm Wrenn Score CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Wins at Stafford

Stafford Springs, CT Tuesday night, July 8th, was the 5th annual CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday program at Stafford Motor Speedway. Chris Perley scored his third ISMA Supermodified feature victory at Stafford in five years by winning the 50-lap feature, Bobby Santos, III was the winner of the 30-lap NEMA Midget feature, and Norm Wrenn was the winner of the 25-lap Pro-4 Modified feature event.

In the 50-lap ISMA Supermodified feature event, it was Chris Perley taking his third victory at Stafford in five years. Kelly Miller took the lead at the green and he led the first 17 laps before Mike Lichty took over the race lead. Lichty had his car working in the high groove, as he took second from Jeff Abold and the lead from Miller on the high side. But Lichty’s good run ended one lap later as a flat right rear tire ended his night against the turn 1 wall, which gave the lead of the race back to Miller.

Perley Tops Wood at Stafford Xtreme Tuesday

Stafford Springs, CT – It’s no surprise to race fans that Chris Perley won the Carquest Stafford Xtreme ISMA race Tuesday night. After all he has been winning a lot in the past couple of years. But it was a bit of a surprise to Perley. It was not by any means an easy or expected win. “I really didn’t think we’d be here tonight,” said Perley in victory lane. “Right from the start of the race I thought I’d be going backwards. I am really surprised.”

Perley, who started in his usual twelfth place on the grid, would come to battle old rival Russ Wood for the win, but had luck been kinder to Kelly Miller or Mike Lichty, Perley and Wood might have been battling for third and fourth. Lichty lost a tire while leading and Miller would blow a motor big time, leaving Wood and Perley in a déjà vu fight up front. “It was a crazy race,” indicated Perley, “It reminded me of one at Seekonk where Woody and I swapped the lead back and forth and you’re wondering how long your tires are going to last doing that. I want to thank Russ for coming back and putting a show on.”

Cassius Clark Looks to Thompson for First 2008 PASS Win

Naples ME (July 8, 2008) When the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late models  roll into Thompson (CT) International Speedway this Saturday, Cassius Clark will still  be looking for his first 2008 visit  to the PASS winners’ circle in the Full Fendered Frenzy 75.

It’s not that Clark is having a bad season; far from it. He’s annexed five top ten finishes in his first five PASS North starts of 2008, and sits atop the series point standings. He’s finished second at Wiscasset (twice) and at White Mountain Motorsports Park. But the Farmington Maine speedster has always felt that taking the checkers first is the only way to have a good day at the races. He doesn’t race to finish second, period.
