Whelen Southern Mod’s most recent winner continues momentum
Winst0n-Salem, NC — John Smith is still flying high after his win last time out. Smith drove his No. 25 Tutterow Surveying/Rick’s Home Repair Chevrolet to the top of the speed charts during practice Friday afternoon for Saturday’s Strutmaster.com 199 presented by 104.1 WTQR at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Smith had a fast lap around the .250-mile oval was 13.494 seconds (66.696 mph). Jason Myers, who recorded his only tour win at Bowman Gray in 2006, was second fastest at 13. 562 (66.362). Zach Brewer was third at 13.620 (66.079), with Burt Myers and Frank Fleming completing the top five.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour cars will get back on the track at approximately 8:40 p.m. for Coors Light Pole qualifying. The Strutmaster.com 199 presented by 104.1 WTQR will run Saturday at 8:50 p.m.
