Hovey Picks Up First Win of Season

WATERFORD, CT — Defending INEX Bandolero champion Nickolas Hovey of Chaplin, CT picked up his first victory of the season.

Hovey said he was “pretty determined” at ending his winless streak during the caution free 20 lap feature. Hovey had four cars drafting with him while he led green to checkered.

“I just ran my race, ran by myself,” Hovey said.

Hovey thanked “Ames’ Finish Line Signs, Heidi’s Creations, Race Dog Photography, Busy Bees, R&G Sealcoating, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, Kim,” after the race.

Hovey took the lead at the green flag alongside Ethan Simmons. A first lap crash involved Anthony Bevilacqua hard into the turn 3 wall after contact with Anthony Bello. Nicholas Oloski also spun and Tyler Barry collected damage.

Tyler Barry moved into second after the next restart with Ethan Simmons third. Ethan Durocher and Tyler Alkas were a part of the breakaway top five draft.

Durocher challenged Simmons for third.

Last week’s winner Charles Prinz led a second pack with Bello and Oloski. Oloski passed Bello for seventh.

Alkas moved to fourth coming to two laps to go by Durocher.
