2018 Schedule Released

The APC Series will head in to its fourth season in 2018 after a largely successful first three seasons of competition. The 2018 schedule will follow a similar format to 2017, with a few tweaks. There will be six different destinations over a nine event schedule, beginning at Sunset Speedway in mid-May and concluding with the championship event as part of the Great Canadian race weekend at Delaware Speedway in mid-September. One of the bigger events of the season once again will be the Jukasa Motor Speedway event, this year the event will be held on the labour day long weekend in September and will be part of the new ‘Canadian Short Track Nationals’. The event will be a $5,000 to win race for the APC Series and is sure to attract the who’s who of the APC Series and beyond. The Series will also unveil an all new starting format an increased purse and only minor rule changes for 2018.

The 2018 APC Series season official kicks off on May 19th at Sunset Speedway, the venue where the inaugural APC Series event was held back in 2015, and the season has kicked off each season since. The series will make two stops at Sunset Speedway in 2018 with the latter being held August 11th, which will serve as point’s race 7 of 9 on the 2018 championship schedule. 2017 saw Brandon Watson take both checkered flags at the high banked 1/3rd mile in Innisfil, Ontario.

Following the opening event at Sunset, the series will then head to the tight and treacherous 1/3rd mile of Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario for the first of two stops at the facility in 2018. The first stop being June 2nd and the second being the unofficial start of the second half of the season on July 21st, being point’s race 5 of 9 on the season. Flamboro provided excitement for some and unfortunate heartbreak for others in 2017, the first event was won by eventual champion Brandon Watson and the second event was won by Andy Kamrath, which was voted on by the fans as their second favourite moment from the 2017 season.

This also enabled us to find enthusiastic and reliable partners for running the series, so now we can be confident that it will be successful. In fact, there is a lot of interest in Central America, a region that has always had good tradition for touring car competition,” said Lotti.

Another healthy mix of superspeedways, intermediate tracks, paved short tracks and dirt tracks will highlight the 2018 tour, including returns trips to Charlotte Motor Speedway, Gateway Motorsports Park, and Berlin Raceway. The race date at Charlotte will be the 21st ARCA race at the 1.5-mile speedway since 1964, and ends a 14-year hiatus. The last time ARCA raced at Gateway was 2007, when Bryan Clauson was the winner.

“We are pleased to announce our complete 20-race, 2018 schedule,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “From superspeedways recognized among the most famed tracks in the world, to historic short tracks and mile dirt tracks, the schedule highlights the long-standing diversity of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. We’re especially pleased to welcome back to the schedule Charlotte Motor Speedway, Gateway Motorsports Park, and Berlin Raceway.”

Reutzel Finishes Strong with Three More Podiums

CLUTE, Texas (November 22, 2017) – Aaron Reutzel and the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car team put the finishing touches on yet another banner season by posting a set of podium finishes in the recent Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season finale at Arizona’s Cocopah Speedway on November 9-11.

After finishes of second and third in the Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Reutzel narrowly missed out on winning the season finale near Yuma for the second year in a row when a nozzle line limited him to a runner-up finish to close out the 2017 campaign.

The robust finish to the season secured a second-place finish in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points with Reutzel missing a second series title by just one position.

Larson, Bell, Sweet and Briscoe Return to their Roots for Turkey Night

Ventura, California………Have you heard the one about when Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Brad Sweet and Chase Briscoe walk into a racetrack?  Well, when that happens, it’s definitely no joke.

These four may not be series regulars, but when they strap into a USAC Midget this Thursday night, Nov. 23 at Ventura Raceway for the 77th running of the “Turkey Night Grand Prix,” this “vacation” away from their regular duties becomes strictly business.

All have earned a reputation for success in a diverse set of disciplines outside wingless sprint car and midget racing, yet still dabble when their schedules allow.  But, “dabble” is most certainly an understatement.

Matt Vassar to Take Over Driving Duties of Hummel #11 SK Modified® at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — After returning to Stafford Speedway in 2017 with Tony Membrino, Jr. behind the wheel, John Hummel has announced that his familiar blue, neon yellow, and orange #11 Hummel Brothers Hot Dogs machine will be piloted by Matt Vassar for the 2018 season.  Membrino recorded three top-10 finishes this season behind the wheel of the #11 machine and now Vassar, who recorded 4 top-5 and 8 top-10 finishes as a rookie driver in Stafford’s Late Model division, will take over the driving duties of the #11.

“I’d like to thank Tony, Jr. and the entire TMR Racing team for all their hard work and efforts this season,” said John Hummel.  “I’m looking forward to building on the momentum we enjoyed this past season.  I love racing at Stafford on Friday nights and we’ll have Matt Vassar driving the car for the 2018 season.”

“We’ve been working on something for a week or two now,” said Matt Vassar.  “John’s ride opened up and although I didn’t think I had a chance at landing it, I was told I should submit my resume because the worst that could have happened was him saying no and look what happened.  I have a chance now to do something that I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d have a chance of doing and I’m looking forward to making the best of the situation, having a lot of fun, and hopefully, we can go out and win some races.”
