Following the Holland Speedway’s release in October that announced the return of the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Pro Modifieds as the track’s top NASCAR division, management continued to look back on the 58-year history of one of WNY’s racing icons. #WeAreHollandSpeedway became the resounding common denominator throughout the entire discussion. All the hard work year in and year out, the fire and passion of the track’s drivers, the enthusiasm and undying excitement from fans, and the support of incredible local sponsors, are the makeup of what makes the track tick.

With a focus on sending the #WeAreHollandSpeedway hashtag viral, the 2017 season and 58th year of racing began to take form over the past two months. Generations Gather at Holland

New York Oval Hosts 55th Season; 15 Tracks Open In May

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A mainstay New York NASCAR short track opens its 55th season in May. Holland (N.Y.) Motorsports Complex, a .375-mile paved banked oval, was a founding member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in 1982 and is one of 15 series tracks opening in May.

Ron Bennett and two partners built the original third-mile dirt track during the winter of 1959-60. Three generations of the Bennett family are involved with the track today. Generations of drivers, crews and fans get together there on summertime Saturday nights and this year gets underway on May 24.

Bennett raced a dirt late model-type car known as a modern stock in 1958-59. He, along with partners Richard Knox and Gordon Becker, built the original Holland Speedway. Bennett was a 20-year-old pre-law student at the time. In the following years, the track was enlarged to .375-mile in 1964 and paved in 1968.

Drivers Shine In NASCAR Finalist Division

24 Win Banquet Invitations; Scott Sundeen Excels At Thompson

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The top NASCAR Whelen All-American Series support division drivers for 2012 have been determined in eight NASCAR Finalist Division point races.

The NASCAR Finalist Division program recognizes drivers who compete in support divisions at NASCAR Whelen All-American Series tracks. With “Division I” being each track’s top class, the NASCAR Finalist Division line-up at each track highlights drivers competing in their second, third, fourth and fifth tier divisions. A NASCAR-licensed driver’s best 14 finishes count toward their final point total for the year. Points are kept separately for dirt and asphalt tracks.

“NASCAR is proud to recognize the men and women who compete at all levels of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly racing,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president, regional and touring series. “NASCAR Finalists represent the top competitors from a wide variety of racing divisions at NASCAR Home Tracks throughout North America and we congratulate them on their accomplishments.”
