McKennedy Roars at Sugar Hill – YankeeRacer.com

McKennedy Roars at Sugar Hill

Jonathan McKennedy of Chelmsford, MA outlasted the hard charges of two fellow competitors as he took his hard earned drink from the milk bottle in the 25-lap Tiger Sprint Feature Saturday night.

At the drop of the green, it was Kelsey Keegan of Middleton, NH in her #2 tiger sprint leaping out front. Jon McKennedy seemed to get enough bite on the outside as he tucked his #79 into second. Dan Belliveau of Malden, MA ducked his Richie Evans City Autobody #61 into third.

The top three then brought the crowd to their feet as the youngsters scraped and fought for every inch of pavement. When the crowd’s heart rate stabilized, it was McKennedy out front with Belliveau lurking and darting close behind. At times the Rapid Roman #61 of Belliveau would serve up the chrome horn to McKennedy as the two screamed down the backstretch.

Kelsey Keegan was not finished by any means. As the top two slugged it out, Keegan positioned the #22 into the mix.

Caution flew on lap 10 as Ben Lynch of Derry, NH spun his #7 high out in turn 2. On the restart, Belliveau slipped back to third from the outside pole as McKennedy and Keegan screamed down the backstretch first and second. Belliveau dove under Keegan as the two entered turn 1. Keegan and Belliveau made contact sending Keegan spinning and Belliveau up on two wheels. Caution was now out for the second time. Belliveau and Keegan were sent to the rear, as the machines that caused the yellow.

On the restart, it was now McKennedy scooting out front. Back in twelfth, it was the #61 of Dan Belliveau looking very much like the rapid roman as he began his charge to the front.

With two laps to go, Belliveau put the move of the night on Anthony Bullock of Wilton, NH driving Corey McKennedy’s #29 sprint and Deryk Baker of Florence, MA. Belliveau blasted by both of them on the inside down the backstretch.

At the checker it was McKennedy with the win. Belliveau landed his #61 second. Deryk Baker took home third. Anthony Bullock and Mac MacDuffie of Salisbury, NH rounded out the top five.

“The kart was loose at the end,” said a happy McKennedy. “We intentionally set it up to behave that way.” Second place finisher Belliveaau was also all smiles. “I was planning on bump drafting the #64 at the end there. I saw two laps to go, so I had to pass them both down low on the backstretch.”

Mark Wesolaski of Raymond, NH captured top honors in the Rookie feature.

Wesolaski launched his #M6 out front early. Anthony Bullock ducked his #88 into second.

Jacqueline Nocella of Woburn, MA slapped the backstretch wall with her right rear tire, as the caution flew on lap 2. Nocella caught up to the rear of the pack, and there seemed to be no damage.

On the restart, “Antman” Bullock launched his #88 into the lead. The M6 of Wesolaski ducked in behind to snatch second. It was now the #00 of L.J. Parry of Claremont, NH making his bid for second as the top three all had the same idea. Three wide, screaming down the frontstretch they roared. Wesolaski, Bullock, and Parry scraped and fought for position bringing he crowd to their feet. When the dust had cleared, it was Wesolaski out in front in the M6. Bullock settling into second and Parry now in third.

With 6 laps to go, Parry pulled his #00 alongside Bullock as the two youngsters went toe to toe, side by side.

The heavy action took it’s toll on Bullock as he relinquished the second spot to Parry.

At the checker it was Wesolaski with a hard-earned win. L.J. Parry took home second. Anthony Bullock pocketed third followed by #31 Dana Legault from Dunbarton, NH and #97 Ryan Maynard from Concord, NH in fourth and fifth.

Jeff Wright from Jaffrey, NH took home top honors and his second win of the season in the Micro Stock Feature. This, despite a poor initial start, from the Winchester Speedparkk Concessions #5. Mt. Sunapee’s Mark Lyden took home second in his Lee Pattens Truck Works sponsored #98. Dan Rabtoy of Claremont, NH snatched third. Kevin Medeiros of E. Providence, RI nailed down fourth followed by #911 of Rob Brown .

Jason Routhier once again dominated the YSR motorcycle feature. He put on a display of proper riding technique. John Klucky in the #21 nailed down second, with #11, Dale Greenwood of Manchester, NH, #10, Billy Saine of Lebanon, NH, and #9, Darren Frith rounding out the top five.
