Stefanik Pulls Off Podium Finish At Stafford
“We were really happy with the car in practice, but it didn’t drive quite as good as it did in the race. We had to come up with something to put us up front,” said Stefanik of his strategy. “We got the lead, but we weren’t quite strong enough to stay there. We were pretty fortunate to get third.”

With the largest crowd of the season looking on, 20 year old racer Jonathan McKennedy, Chelmsford, MA; fought off veteran Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT; to win his first True Value Modified Racing Series event Saturday night at the Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH. The former ISMA supermodified rookie of the year piloted his family owned Power Mist/RH2WAY # 73 to the victory. McKennedy, who started fourth in the 23 car field, earned a guaranteed starting spot in next month’s Mod Mania 400 weekend at the Thompson, CT; Speedway. McKennedy raced at or near the front of the field over the 100 lap grind with his racer, owned and prepared by his father Dennis, getting stronger as the race went on turning the fastest lap of any competitor entered on the 94th circuit.
Former Canaan winner Jack Bateman, Canaan, and Todd Patnode, W.Swanzey, NH; brought the field to green with Patnode jumping into first place. McKennedy and Andy Seuss, two former 350 super modified drivers, ran second and third in the opening laps. Chris Perley Opens a New Batch of Luck to Take Mansfield Saturday ISMA Show
Mansfield, OH — Chris Perley said Friday night at Mansfield that he’d run out of luck after a minor wreck on lap six put him out of the 40-lap ISMA-Wirtgen event. But, he added kidding, that he had a new bucket of luck in the trailer, unopened. Saturday night he put that new batch of luck to good use as he stood in victory lane next to a hissing rear tire, which would go flat moments after his post-race interview. A lap or two more and he would not have been there. But, that’s the way things have been going this year – and last, for Perley and the Vic Miller team. Perley’s seventh win of the season puts him two races away from taking over the ISMA all-time feature win list from Pelham, NH’s Russ Wood.
Said Perley, “We just opened that new bucket of good luck because I don’t know if you can hear it, but my tire has a big hole in it. So we pulled this one off tonight. We got lucky. The car was just awesome. Last night was a bit of a disappointment but we just come back and try to do the best we can the next day. And the crew said ‘we’re going to give you a car tonight that will get the job done’ and boy did they because this thing was on a rail.
MacDonald Takes First ACT Win at Oxford Plains Speedway
Outlaw stock car racer Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA made his first American-Canadian Tour (ACT) main event start of the season a good one on Saturday night at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway, taking his first career ACT Late Model Tour win in an exciting caution-free Time Warner Cable 100 that was completed in under 29 minutes. MacDonald made a daring inside move underneath recent TD Banknorth 250 Champion “Rocket” Roger Brown of Lancaster, NH to take the lead with ten circuits remaining, then held off a fast-closing Ricky Rolfe in heavy lapped traffic for the victory.
“We’re glad to finally get a win with this car,” MacDonald said in victory lane. “It’s been real fast every time out, and my crew did an awesome job getting the car ready tonight.”

Mansfield, OH — Ray Graham Jr. took off from the pole at Mansfield Motorsports Park in Friday night’s ISMA-Wirtgen Super Series 40-lapper and stayed right there to finish in the same spot. It was a career first for the Iowa resident who has been in the hunt on many an occasion. Surviving a red and a couple yellows, Graham looked to be running away with the short sprint, but with ten to go, his 99 car began to falter and Dave Trytek and then young Mike Lichty came on to challenge. Lichty made a last lap, last corner attempt to take what would have been his career first also, but fell short as Graham brought his first win home. Six time winner to date, Chris Perley was out of the action on lap six after a brush, ironically, with Lichty. But it was Graham’s night to shine.
Said Ray in the post race interview; “The car was handling really well in the heat race until the motor started skipping. We thought we had it fixed but in the last ten to twelve laps of the race it started again. I could hear them coming but the motor just wouldn’t go. It kept sputtering. We have something in the fuel system that’s making the motor skip. It plugged up the motor after the heat race. So we’re going to have to find out what that is. If there were another five laps, they probably would have had me. I didn’t know whether it was Mike or Dave at the end there. I just put the car in the middle of the track and if they were going to go around, they were going to work hard for it. The first win feels good. “I feel good for the guys who do all the work. I just show up at the track”
Osborne Wins Northeast Focus at Spencer Speedway

He was trailed by Steven Intravaia, Shaun Gosselin, Sean Carman and P.J. Stergios at the checkered flag. Series point leader Jeff Abold was 13th but still has 14-point lead over Stergios going into Saturday’s race at the Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome.

“Rocket” Roger Brown Returning to Oxford Plains
“Rocket” Roger Brown made national headlines last month by winning the 34th Annual TD Banknorth 250 open-competition stock car classic at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway, and the Lancaster, NH ace is ready to pick up where he left off at the track in Saturday’s Time Warner Cable 100 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) championship series.
“I’ve got kind of a lot riding on this race,” explained Brown, 28. “We’re only two points out of fifth place on the Tour, we’re leading the Challenge points, and I want an ACT win before the year is over. I think we’ll have a good day if we can qualify for the main event, but we’ll have plenty of cars in the pits to get through first.”

“The car was on a rail tonight, no doubt about it,” said Bakaj of his third Wednesday night Legends win of the season. “It was a little slick up on the outside, but I managed to get by Max up there early, and that was the key. Max is a tough competitor and never easy to go by.”
Encouraging Words
Words have tremendous power. What we say can change the direction of someone’s life. Have you ever stopped to consider how what you are about to say will affect those who hear it? It would make a tremendous difference in the lives of others if we all stopped for a moment and thought about the words that are going to came out of our mouth. Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Whenever we race in a live television event the warning is given at the drivers meeting. Watch what you say in the interviews. Don’t make a fool of yourself or anyone else by saying something before you think. We all know it and we have the best intentions, but it happens anyway. I am sure you have heard it said, “put your mind in gear before you put your mouth in motion.”
ISMA Travels to Doubleheader at Mansfield
With just two weeks off since the Sandusky Hy-Miler Nationals, the Wirtgen-ISMA super series group prepares for their second doubleheader weekend with a similar format. At Mansfield Motorsports Park, the only difference is that the Saturday night show is 75 laps, unlike the Hy-Miler 100.
Mansfield has been one place that Chris Perley has almost ruled the past couple years, winning four out of the last five events held at this beautiful Ohio oval. The Rowley driver and defending ISMA champion, has certainly been on a roll coming off a sweep at Sandusky and certainly will be favored to roll into and out of Mansfield with two more wins. But, Lou Cicconi had something to say about a similar circumstance last season as he stole the Friday night show from Perley. And, there are a lot of other drivers, like Perley’s closest opponents of late Dave McKnight and Mike Lichty that could put a crimp in a sweep. Add to the mix one young Ohio driver who has been a tear of his own, Dave Shullick Jr.

Both drivers were due to take their first victories, both scored them at one of the toughest bullring joints around, and both were good enough, lucky enough, or a combination of the two to beat Jean-Paul Cyr.

On lap 139, an accident took Stefanik out of contention and the Flamingo Motorsports team was forced to settle with an 11th place finish.
