Faster Pastor Race Tops Bowl Schedule
Waterford, CT — The Faster Pastor Race, a 20-lap battle for area clergy, helps bring Waterford Speedbowl’s Saturday night season to a close this week. The pastors join the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series cars plus the Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday X-Cars on the docket.
It will be the third year for Faster Pastor event, a 20 lapper in X Cars. A cooperative effort between the Bowl and the area churches, it has become a ‘special’ event.
The SK-Modifieds (35 lap feature), Late Models (30), Mini Stocks (20), Sportsman (20) and X-Cars (20) will be “staging” for the Sept. 22-23 Finale. Much remains to be settled in all the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions.
Entries for the Faster Pastor race include Edward Hayes of the Resurrection Life Christian Center Church in Poquonock, David Watson of the Higher Calling Ministry in Waterbury, Brad Whipple and Dave Munley of the Seaport Community Church in Groton, Derrick Stoddard of the Third Baptist Church in North Stonington and Rusty Ward of the Quinebaug Valley Alliance Church in Griswold.
Also entered are Frank Spaulding, Dolan Simmons and John Gates of the Open Door Baptist Church in Westerly; Rick Pressley, Shaun Pillay and Terry Frazier of the Third Baptist Church in North Stonington, Curtis Watson of Faith Church Ministries in New Milford,
Rob Janovic Jr. takes a 16-point lead over Dennis Gada into Saturday’s action while Ken Cassidy Jr. also holds a 16-point margin on Danny Field in the Mini Stocks. Top five, top 10 and top 15 spots remain up for grabs in all divisions.
Extra distance events – 100 lappers for the SKs and Late Models, 30 lappers for the Sportsman and Mini Stocks – highlight the busy Finale Weekend. The busy schedule also includes the Legends, Northeastern Midget Association, Pro4 Modifieds and AllStar Race Trucks along with the Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday X-Cars, Super-X Cars and X-Modifieds.
NEMA will join the SKs, Late Models, Sportsman and Minis on Sunday. The other division features will be on Saturday night following qualifying for all divisions.
